Pain in resurfaced joint

I'm now 4 weeks out from surgery and although much of the muscle sourness is
going away I'm still on two crutches because when i put weight on my resurfaced
hip there is a good deal of pain in what feels like the joint. It actually feels
quit similar to how my hip felt from the OA before the surgery. After week 3 I
tried going down to just 1 crutch for a few days but found the pain from
additional weight baring to be very high and went back up to two crutches.

My question is does pain that feels like it's coming from the joint normal? Is it part of the bone healing process OR is there aiming else I should be worried about? Component losening, infection AVN?

chuckm

Pain anywhere can be considered normal after this type of surgery. But, the quality of the pain can mean different things. If you experience very sudden sharp pain in or around the hip then you should contact your surgeon to discuss the issue. If you find that is just hurts or is sore, that can be considered normal at 4 weeks.
When is your follow-up appointment? Most here say the surgeon has them back at 3 to 6 weeks.

I would expect this to be nothing to worry about, and concur with chuckm. I would go further and say even sharp pain is normal. I couldn't tell you how much I worried that I had screwed it up or worse!

Obviously, only you can be the judge, and will take advice from your surgeon if you feel it is necessary.

I recently passed 5 months, and the outside of my hip remains sore and "delicate" (not as much as at first, gradually normalising), if I overdo things exercise-wise a different kind of soreness ...

And, your starting position will influence to at least a small degree. If your pre op position required more serious ace tabular reaming for example, or more limited range of motion and so on.

Chuckm and Matt
I appreciate both of your replies. it seems people's experiences differ greatly in their recoveries but it's reassuring to know the pain I'm feeling is not a red flag.
If anyone else has any thoughts or different interpretation please share. Otherwise thanks

Thelman--I am about 5 weeks out myself, and experiencing quite a bit of soreness(and some pain) still, which is typical for most of us. So, I'm pretty confident that you shouldn't unnecessarily worry, although I would certainly mention it to your doctor at your follow up visit, which I just had with my surgeon last week. Good luck to you.
