Anyone had Tenotomy or fractional lengthening

I'm at 12 months from resurfacing of my left hip.. It has been a problematic recovery. At 6 weeks my hip filled up with fluid. Nobody could figure out why. At 10 months I found out why. I had been walking around for nearly 10 months with two full thickness tendon ruptures. How a radiologist and a hip surgeon both missed it is mystifying.  A Regenexx Dr. found it in about 30 seconds and we confirmed it with ultrasound. I still have pain and tightness around the incision site, and both flexion and adduction are limited and painful. I still need to lift my leg into the car. I can walk ok for up to about 4-5 miles do squats etc. I doubt I could run ski or play tennis. All I really wanted to be able to do was surf again. That would be impossible with my hip and I'm not sure if it will ever work with this replacement. My surgeon hasn't been much for troubleshooting problems and really I've had to do all my own detective work here. What I'm wondering is if anyone here has had similar problems and undergone either Tenotomy or fractional lengthening of the psoas? My surgeon just says bone remodeling continues for years and will one day take care of it all. Not really a great roadmap for me to work with, yes, I do PT and stretching daily. I think the acetabular component is just a bit too far forward and all the PT and stretching in the world wont fix that. I"m willing to work hard for another year and reluctantly catch waves on an SUP, but ultimately if I can't surf - I have no use for this thing. I'd rather either look into a procedure that will allow it to do what I need it to do or get a revision to a THR. If there is anyone that has done either Tenotomy, fractional lengthening or revision to THR I'd value your input Thanks

Wow. I am so sorry to hear what a horrible experience you have had. No matter what you choose to do, you need to find a new surgeon. You need at least a second or third opinion. I would advise sending your records for a consult with one or more of the recommended surgeons who deals with difficult cases and revisions. You don't mention where you live or who your surgeon is, but you may need to consider travelling to fix this, depending on recommendations. Don't give up! Good luck.

Hi,
Thanks for your response. You gave me good advice earlier on in this. I didn't want to publicly trash the surgeon as he has had many good outcomes and has a generally good reputation, and is considered one of the "great ones". My outcome and post op care have been anything but great though. I travelled to see him, and I have already reached out to Dr. De Smet, Dr Su, and Dr Groos for consults on how to proceed with this. At this point I realize how far behind I am for a year having walked around for the better part of the year with the tendons of two of the major posterior muscle chain with full thickness ruptures. I'm just now beginning to get those muscles to respond. I'm interested to see what the other surgeons say, but my guess is what is probably in my best interest is to really work smart, but consistently for the next 6-12 months and see if I can turn this thing around. Getting good ROM and strength back would obviously be my best outcome. I'd rather avoid tenotomy or fractional lengthening as those can't be undone, but I'm interested if they've worked for anyone. I've only found one person who had what sounds like a tenotomy and it didn't help him much.  I'll definitely do the other side with a different surgeon should I need to. Possibly even an anterior THA. I don't really want to take a chance on another brutal recovery.
