T minus 8 hours and counting. The Hospital for Special Surgery called around noon and said I needed to report for duty @ 0600. Still need to do my cleaning of the incision site and that excitement with the enema. :-\
Not very tired as I got a nap this afternoon. Had some eggs for breakfast and sushi for lunch to satisfy the day-before-surgery “low residue†diet. Read some recovery stories - a few of them not good which makes me question things.
Tonight I went over to a local park and tried to run a little bit (I'm 39 and very active: just can't reach my r foot, put on a sock, or bring my leg up even to a 90deg bend). It confirmed for me the need to get this done.
Will report back here tomorrow and try and keep a reasonable detail of the events as they unfold.
Best to all and see you on the other side with a new bionic r hip!
Peter
Peter,
Best wishes for your surgery tomorrow. I had a LBHR by Dr. Su almost 6 months ago. Today was my last physical therapy session. I have been climbing mountains with snow shoes and next week I can downhill ski. You are in good hands. I talked to Ray from Connecticutt last week. He is also having hip resurfacing surgery by Dr. Su tomorrow. Maybe you'll bump into him in recovery.
