Title: I thought I was more or less recovered but....
Post by: Barbara on April 09, 2009, 01:23:54 PM
I am 25 and 17 weeks post op and the last couple of weeks I have been amazed at how good everything feels. I go on my recumbent exercise bike for 2 x 1/2 hr sessions every day and have been going on long walks. The only thing I've felt to remind me that I had surgery is a slight brief occasional twinge in the muscle above my left knee.
Until yesterday that is.......
I had to do CPR renewal and the manikins were set out on mats on the floor. I spent 4 hours getting up and down on my knees. It was not always easy. My muscles felt tight at times and today they feel very tight. Getting up from a sitting to a standing position is not easy. My muscles feel like they did 3 months ago. I obviously used muscles yesterday that I've not been using. It makes me wonder what muscles I'm actually working when on the exercise bike.
I think I'm going to have to take it easy the next couple of days. I thought I was past all that. Overall though I can't complain and have had a very good recovery. I'm just kind of surprised. No more crawling around on the floor for me for a while ;D

Hi

I had a similar experience when I cleaned and painted the skirting boards in a bedroom.    It was only a couple of hours but it certainly tightened up both hips for a few days.

Hey Barbara,
I am a tile setter and mason and concrete worker so I spend alot of time getting up and down from my knees. When I went back to work the first day everything seemed fine but the second day the muscles were tight and all that, the third day the muscles felt really good again. Keep working them, they will get used to it.
