Hello everyone :)
I tried posting this last week, but must have made an error as I didn't see it in the lineup of posts.
1)In the experience of those of you who have had the resurfacing done, did you prepare for surgery by doing any particular physical exercises that you felt helped with post surgery recovery? Either stretching, or strengthing of any type?
I've read a few things here and there on the internet, and one article suggested "Phase 2 Hip exercises". is anyone familiar with them?
Oddly enough, I'm wondering if a saggy, out of shape glute muscle might just be better and maybe it won't spring like a rubberband when it's cut! lol But really, I was wondering how I might prepare my body for the shock/healing of the surgery.
2) Did anyone start taking any particular vitamins, or modify your diet prior to surgery?
It was suggested to me, that I start taking soy protein, per their opinion, a body needs protein to heal?
All I know is that I'm waiting to hear from Dr. Gross' office as to whether or not I can keep the July 29th tentative appointment that they have made for surgery, based on their findings after reviewing my info packet that I sent to them.
Thanks in advance for any and all info/comments that you may post :)
Have a great day all!

Cindy,
Dr. G has his phase II excercises that are for after 6 weeks post-op posted on his webiste here : http://www.grossortho.com/forms/Others/PhaseIIHipExercises.pdf
Dr. G will have you do these phase I post-op to 6 weeks http://www.grossortho.com/forms/Others/PhaseIhipexercises.pdf
Work on stretching, upper body excercises as you will need the extra strength to get around post-op, I've heard vitamin C is good too.
I will tell you, and I've said this over and over again to people, 99% of the time with Dr. Gross the surgery is not bad at all, he's amazing and so is his staff Lee, Nancy & Charlene and everyone at the hospital. I would have no problem having my left hip done with Dr. G and I would not be in the least fearful the 2nd time around.
Read some of Dr. G's patient stories, his pain management makes post-op very easy, you'll have some incision soreness and a cramp like sensation but I am sure you will do fine.
