Hi Mike,
Trust your instinct, if you feel in anyway unsure STOP, and think about your options mate.
Obviously we sign a waver to the effect if things do not go to plan, then the surgeon has the option to move to a THR, this is major surgery and complications can happen. My first surgeon said a similar thing to me and even showed me the MOM THR that he would use !!!
Once your surgery is under way it is out of your hands, but your decision to choose your surgeon is in your's to make.
I hope you find some answers.
Good luck
Terry

In Boston, I would only go to Newton Wellesley (Snider). A couple of years ago I would advise people to go elsewhere but Dr Snider has now done about 300 or more and I personally know people who have had it done there and are happy. I would not go to Baptist Hospital, Mass General or any others, because they really push THR, and do not have enough resurfacing experience. I have heard other doctors also say the same thing about doing THR if resurfacing becomes a problem during surgery, so I would not worry about it.
