Title: getting back in the sauna!
Post by: Eurocard on October 16, 2009, 11:48:27 AM
I miss my Sauna,  has anyone experience of when it is ok to get back into the sauna.   I am thinking it may be around the same time as getting a soaking in the bath or shower, but does the heat mean I should wait a little longer?

The Sauna I use maxes out at around 96 degrees and I usually do 2 x 15 minutes with adequate rest between each session.  Any feedback most appreciated/

I also love the sauna! I asked my doctor at about 5 weeks when I saw him. He made sure my incision site was okay and then said fine. The sauna at the gym I go to is much hotter. I can only stay in about 5-10 minutes. I think if you are drinking a lot water and listen to when your body says enough, why not? Enjoy!

anyone have any thoughts/concerns about using a sauna post op?

i am 5 weeks post op, incision is fully "healed" (was given the okay to get into the swimming pool by doctor and PT), no swelling in operated leg. i ASSUME using a sauna is fine. i went in the sauna at the health club tonight and the temperature was really hot!! i left after only about 3 minutes.
