Hi Pat:
Sorry to bother you again. I don't want you to think I'm a hypochondriac (sp?). When I went to PT yesterday she said that the end of my scar was red. I can't see it, but my husband can. That is how slight it is. She said not to freak out, but she wanted to tell me to keep an eye on it. The scar is completely shut tight. There is no ozing or fever. Should I call the doctor or no. I don't want to seem like a fool. I wouldn't have even worried about it if my PT hadn't mentioned it. I wouldn't of even know. Has this happened to anyone else? I have another PT session tomorrow.
Thanks,
Pam

Hi
My scar was tender and touchy for a long time. I have very sensitive skin. Acutally, now almost 4 years post op - it is still mostly red.
So a lot depends on your skin. If it is not really hot and red, I guess I would not worry too much. If it doesn't hurt or seem swollen, I would guess it is OK. I would watch it. When do you see your PT and or doctor again? If you are really worried, call the doctors office and ask.
Why don't you just let the PT take a look again tomorrow. Normally, as far as I know, but am not a doctor, infections really causes the incision to be red, hot and inflammed. If it looks worse tomorrow - call the doctor and ask about it.
My incision itched like crazy for months and months. My skin healed slowly. Not all of mine healed at the same rate. The section back on my butt was the last to heal and stop itching.
