Title: 7 weeks bilateral today...
Post by: mailmonkey on March 19, 2010, 07:07:01 PM
Hi,

I had both mine resurfaced on 29th January. Finsbury Adept components.

Came round after 5 hour surgery, surgeon telling me I was going to feel a bit bruised and battered because of large muscle mass, I'm a postman.

Also telling me my bone was very thin on the right side and he had problems positioning the cup, so I'd have to stay on crutches, only touch to partial weight bearing on right side for 6 weeks.... :(

I was pretty upset, i'd already had a failed open debridement from this surgeon, and thought the worst...

But, I went for x-rays and a check up after 5  1/2 weeks, was told I could begin weight bearing, and 10 days later I'm feeling great!!!

No more painkillers!! Have stopped codeine!! Had to taper a bit,and getting some withdrawals, but finished with all the pills is great,

Workking on exercise bike, walking up and down hills and steps a lot, doing general household chores again etc, and finally seeing some benefits....after all these years my hips are starting to be able to move again, it feels great...i'm stretching tooo much if anything, just cos it gives me so much pleasure to be able to, genuine joy, you all know what I mean ;)

Just hope things keep progressing.

Skiiing next winter? horseriding again? Football? Badminton? Healthy sex life?

So much to look forward to.
