Title: 4 weeks after BHR
Post by: epccon2 on July 12, 2010, 12:58:47 PM
Hello All,
I will complete my 4 weeks after surgry (June 16th) this Wed.  The Rehab has been going well and I am ready to commute to office starting tomorrow.
Dr.Ratterman (Tampa) performed surgery on my Right Hip (BHR).  I am 41 yrs old and weight 210 and even though I am on the heavy side, I kept myself very active and played USTA tennis at local league level.  For about a year and half, I suffered with groin pain due to bone on bone on right hip.  I took Advil and tylenol to reduce muscle spams and it helped temporarily.

Due to an auto accident in 1994 (hit by a drunk driver), I already had two IM nailings on both legs and so, the surgeon this time removed the screw at the hip so he can place the BHR device in there.  As a result, I have to be more conservative due to the hole in bone as a result of removing screw.
I feel great so far and I walk with a cane and walk 1 mile each day. I still need to keep the 90 degree rule for 2 more weeks.  For those considering BHR, do your homework fast and quickly and get it done.  Good Luck to other folks in forum as well.

Hi

Welcome to Hip Talk.  Congratulations on that new BHR.

Glad to hear things are going well for you.  Thanks for posting your story.

Looking forward to your future posts when you are healed and back to playing tennis!  Take it easy for now.  That will come in time.

Good Luck.

Pat
