Hi folks,
I had a RBHR in August 2008. My recovery went very well. I held off playing soccer for apx 12 months. I work out with a personal trainer 2x a week. I started getting glut pain in the left leg apx 6 months ago. I had it diagnosed as an inflamed piriformis muscle in my left leg. My trainer noticed I was favoring my operated leg during impact exercises. It appears to be a compensation issue that developed during recovery.
I would like to know if anyone else experienced this and if so, what did they do to eleminate it?
Fred
After having pain in your hip for so many years and then 12 months of healing it has become habit to favor the op leg. It will take time for your body to trust that your leg is still not hurt. Even after a year I would still baby my op leg and sometimes limp on it when I wasn't paying attention. There was no pain, it was just habit. A PT should be able to help you rebalance out your legs. I would recommend that you do not overdue it. Even after a year you are still healing and becoming use to your hip. I am close to 2 years and still seeing improvements. I notice another big improvement at 18 months.
