Title: Muay Thai
Post by: gary2010 on August 19, 2010, 05:42:08 AM
Greetings,
My main interests are Muay Thai and Kali; does anyone out there still kick Thai pads after BHR? Dr Bose says contact sports are ok at 3 months, McMinn says no impact, including running for a year.

I am provisionally having the left hip done by Mr Latham in southampton UK next month. He follows the more conservative Mc Minn protocol.
My thoughts are that if all goes well I would avoid significant impact for 6 months at which the risk to the femoral neck will be passed, and that I would do a lot of strength and flexibility work from 3-6 months. My bone density should be good as I only have OA from impingement, I am still cycling and can squat well over 100 kilos even with the injury.

So if I can handle running from 6 months on, maybe kicking at 12?
G.

think about it this way: you need time to heal and it may be best to let your body lead your recovery. in other words: no time lines until you feel that you are ready to do what you want. you will know in time
good luck
