Title: Grinding 1 yr post op?
Post by: oxley on September 04, 2010, 01:42:24 AM
Twice now I have experienced something similar to teeth grinding in my hip as I walk, it lasts a day and then gone. It is a horrible feeling, no pain but you can hear it and feel vibration. Anyone experience that??

I have not experienced that, if it continues you should get it checked out. moe

i have felt that a few times, usually when i'm at work.
i'm on my feet all day and my job is fairly physical.it has happened when i've lifted my leg up over an obstacle and then down, put all my weight on it and it feels like my hip wants to stop moving.
i have my 2 year check-up in a few weeks so i'm going to ask what it is.
i put it down to lack of hydration at first ??

ps: the feeling passes in a second

Hi All!

I've also felt the grinding -- and chalked it up to dehydration and/r muscle imbalance + weakness. I'm about three weeks into living in the mountains for the winter, and I backcountry ski (so skin/walk up and then ski down). Coming from sea level this activity is challenging until you get in shape, and i feel the grinding at the end of long days. I do some stretching and it kind of goes away... but yeah, disconcerting. I'm about 2.5 years out of a hip resurfacing, I'm 41 now.

Instead of grinding, I had squeaking during backcountry skiing or hunting in the alpine after a long period of activity for 2 1/2 years after my right hip resurfacing.  I attributed it to dehydration and improving muscular strength.
