Title: Nine days post op....doing great
Post by: stockmanl on October 21, 2010, 04:51:31 PM
Went in for BHR last Tuesday (10/12/10) and it was a very positive experience.  I live in Cincinnati and had Dr. Arthur Lee do the work.  Very professional.  He has done many BHR's however is not listed on the website here.  I have read the previous posts and they were very helpful so I thought I would talk about my experience.

Stayed in the hospital till Fri and then drove with my wife to Columbus, OH on Sat.  Watched her run the Columbus marathon on Sunday.  I was on crutches by this time and ended up walking about 2 miles to watch her finish.  I had no driving restrictions so drove home after she was done (about 2 hours).  Getting stronger really quickly and starting on Monday (six days post op) was getting around using a cane only.  Home nurses and PT were amazed at the quick recovery (neither had experienced a BHR patient) and have recommended to be discharged from their care.  By now can get around without a cane but will continue to use it till completely comfortable.

The discomfort of the bone on bone from before surgery is completely gone.  There is some tightness but as each day comes it gets less.  Completely happy with my BHR experience so far.

Hi

Congratulations on the new hip.  Glad your recovery is going well.  I just wanted to remind you to take it easy a bit early on.  Once you push too much and get swelling, it tends to want to return.  Swelling means icing and staying off your leg for awhile.  Just don't get too carried away for a month or so.

I will watch for your updates.  Good Luck.
