Title: Titanium Resurface?
Post by: Tin Soldier on February 05, 2011, 10:12:16 PM
Did I hear my neighber wrong when she said she had a Titanium resurfacing?  I've heard of Ti with ceramic and maybe poly for a THR, but RS?

The patients in Gent who got THR at the same time as I got resurfacing got THR devices made from titanium alloy with ceramic inserts. All of the resurfacing devices that I could find details about when I did research were made of cobalt-chrome-molybdenum alloy, with the only variation being whether they were made as cast or heat treated.

There is a ceramic BHR option but I've never heard of a Ti one?

Ti would not be as durable as the standard alloy used in BHR anyway so don't personally see any possible advantage?
