Title: Upper Body Safe
Post by: hipnhop on March 28, 2011, 01:02:14 PM
My Doc told me I am free to work on Upper Body (I am two weeks post op). I just know that there are some exercises that cause weight bearing or stretching of the hips. For example a Lat pull down machine will stabilize knees while stretching my upper body/hips. Does anyone know of exercises or machine to shy away from?

Here's my SAFE list:
Seated Bench press machine
Seated Lat pull machine
Seated Calf Raises
Leg Extension
Tricep Pushdowns
Bicep Curl Machine
Seated Crunch machine
Shoulder Press Machine
Shoulder Fly machine
Cable cross over

any opinions, additions, edits or deletions?

I am 4 weeks post op and was thinking of going to the gym this weekend - if I can get my wife to drive me there - and start some upperbody stuff.  I thought the list looked great and I will use it

The cable cross over, is that pulling from high over your shoulder - across the body - and down past the hip on the other side?  To me that will be to much twisting for now so I will keep away from that.

Cheers - Phill

Hip,

Thanks for the list. I am heading to lift for the first time today. I'll let you know my findings.
