Hello to all!
This is my first post but I have been enjoying this site since discovering it a couple months ago. In my reading from several sources I think I have seen that the BHR has a particular cup for those with acetabular dysplasia. I wondering if anyone has had that used in their procedure and how that has worked out?
I am 49 and had acetabular dysplasia of my left hip diagnosed in May of '07 after over a year of progressive symptoms. I am planning a BHR with Dr. Dan Sewell in Salem Oregon (an associate of Dr. Harold Boyd) hopefully in late '08 after I have more paid time off benefits accrued with my job.
I look forward to hearing from fellow hippies - thanks!

Hi Judi
Welcome to Hip Talk.
I personally don't know about anyone who has used the special cup for dysplasia. I am sure, however, that if Smith and Nephew has one, it has been used.
Hip Talk is a fairly new and small Discussion Group. I don't think you will probably get an personal answer from someone that had the cup used on them. If you join and post to the large Yahoo Surface Hippy Group of over 6000+ memebers, you might get an answer http://groups.yahoo.com/group/surfacehippy/ (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/surfacehippy/)
If you do have your surgery and have the special cup used, please stay in touch with us and tell us more about it. I would like to post your personal story on the Hip Stories page of my website also. That is a great way for other people to learn - from those that have gone before them.
Good luck with your surgery and stay in touch.
