Seeking recommendations for PT in the western suburbs of Chicago. My husband is having bilateral resurfacing with Dr. Amstutz 1/29. Does anyone have recommendations for a PT provider in or near Darien, Oak Brook, Downers Grove, etc? Thanks
Hi
Welcome to Hip Talk.
I wish you husband Good Luck with his upcoming bi-lat resurfacing. Dr. Amstutz certainly is one of the best in the US.
I can't help you with PT info, I am sorry. I live in Ohio.
Does Dr. Amstutz require a lot of PT post op? My doctor, De Smet did not require anything special after we left Belgium at 10 days post op. He believes in a lot of walking and normal activities.
Maybe someone else will jump in with some recommendations for you.
Once again - Good luck with your husbands surgery.
Pat
Hinsdale Orthopaedics has an excellent physical therapy department. I had my surgery in Springfield, Illinois as I had my surgery before this procedure was FDA approved. My left hip is a study hip and my right hip is an FDA approved hip. I went to Hinsdale Orthopaedics after surgery even though my surgeon did not recommend PT, just walking and the like.
I had been seeing a pain/rehab specialist who put me in PT post op and I am so glad I went. Even though at that time, the PT's did not have experience in Hip Resurfacing, they took the time to research and learn what was needed to care for me. Since that time, the surgeons at Hinsdale Orthopaedics are now doing hip resurfacing and the PT's are extremely well trained in that area.
