Title: Pre-Surgical Testing Question
Post by: KFla on January 26, 2008, 02:43:39 PM
I am curious as to how long the hospital can do pre-surgical testing before the actual hip resurfacing operation.  Does anyone know in general?  Or does anyone know how far in advance Dr. Su will do his pre surgical testing?

Thanks so much!

Hi
Welcome to Hip Talk.

I am sorry but I don't have any experience with pre-surgical testing.  I went to Belgium and checked into the hospital the day before surgery. That is where I received x-rays, heart EKG and blood tests.

I was hoping someone with experience in the US would answer your question.

Why don't you just call Dr. Su's office and ask them the quesiton. That way you will get the right answer.

Good luck.

Pat

I had my surgery in the US and my presurgery testing was done almost 3 weeks prior to my surgery.  I beleive standard is around 1-2 weeks , the holidays stretched mine out a bit.  I also started banking blood one month prior on 2 separate visits to the red cross.   :)    - Annie

Hello:

I believe that 'legally' all pre-op stuff is good for 30 days.  In our state, surgery labs/x-rays, h&p's and doctor's clearance are only good for 30 days.  If it goes to 31, then they have to be updated.  Not sure where you reside, but your hospital can give you a definite answer.
