Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't been posting for the past two months. I started a P/T which leaves little time for anything but sleep. I'm trying to get my financial house in order before my second BHR (Nov 8th). Not looking forward to it but we all know how that goes.
Operated hip is doing well but I had to slow down on exercise because of pain in non-op hip. Leaving one hip undione will really slow down your ability to get active again. I know I need to be patient but I'm tired of being a patient. I want to run.
I'm looking forward to a 2012 Ironman. That's my goal so let's get this bad boy fixed so I can do what I got to do.
Glad everyone is well. God Bless!

Glad you are back in communication again. Good that you are doing PT.
You may well be running in 2012, but if you are having your other hip done in November, 2012 might be too soon to do an ironman. Recovery continues after one year.

Good luck Hip...
I agree Lop, I just had one side done and am realistically thinking 2013 for an IM comeback for me.
A slow strong build up seems wiser than just "doing it"...
But I've been known to get dumb pretty fast...
Hi Hip, good to hear from you again! What you are saying about leaving one hip undone is so true! I'm in exactly the same situation, and have had to really limit what I do in the last couple of months due to pain in the unoperated hip, which has been really frustrating. I am so looking forward to having two good hips again!
Did you have a lot of pain in your other hip before having surgery on the first one? I did not, even though it looked just as bad as the other one on X-rays, but it has gotten worse really quickly in the last 3 months or so. My first surgery was in April. I scheduled the second surgery for October 12, more for insurance reasons (deductibles!) than because I was in pain. Now I am very glad I did.
Welcome back, Hip - my right hip was definitely holding me back towards the second procedure, it was time. Like lop says, take your time about 2012, maybe check with other triathletes about their comeback.
HnH-
Glad to hear from you again. I am sorry about your other hip but this is a short period in the long race of life.
I had my one (and I hope only) hip done in August. I am shooting for a 2013 IM. I would be amazed if you were ready for an IM so soon after surgery. I think even the more liberal surgeons suggest waiting 6 months before resuming running. Certainly there are examples of others doing IM months after surgery.
Best wishes on your upcoming surgery. Can you at least aqua jog?
Dan
HnH - you're back! I wondered what happend to you. I sent you a PM after my surgery in August thanking you for the treats you sent for joining the bilat club. I don't think it went through, maybe I need to clean out the in box. So, thanks. I feel so,.... bilateral, I guess?
IM? - I was thinking it would take me a year easy to start soccer again, but I'm not in any hurry. I'm happy riding a bike and walking. Slowly working on getting the ROM back so maybe I can climb again. Right now, it's the simple stuff.
Looking forward to hearing about you surgery and recovery. It's good to have you back.
Welcome back HipNHop!
Best of luck for round 2. Just think, next year they will be calling you Cobalt Chromium Ironman.
Take Care man.
