Has anyone heard if Dr. Ferro in Arroyo Grande CA...he has lots of experience with hip resurfacing (will find out exact numbers tomorrow )
The big plus with this Dr. is that he is 1/2 hour from home and I will be pretty much doing this by myself, hubby works her far from home. I'm mostly worried as to whether or not I'm a candidate 55 year old female, atrophying is setting in. I have stairs and TWO young Queenslands (herding dogs) along with metal sensitivities. I have bone spurs and stenosis along with this dreaded OA. Any advice would be most appreciated... btw I have am in horrible pain too. Thank you to anyone that takes the time to read this and especially to PAT for everything you do for all of us :))

No specific advice from me.. I can only imagine the emotions you are experiencing right now. I'm really sorry to hear you are in pain as well.
Just keep doing what you are doing (going to see HR specialists) and find out what they have to say as to whether or not they believe you are a candidate. If for some reason you do not get the news you are looking for, do not worry. Get multiple opinions and pick a great surgeon. Everything else will take care of itself.
Keep the faith. You will find a solution.

I don't know a lot about Dr. Ferro. I do know he is an excellent knee surgeon. I look forward to reading more about your visit with Dr. Ferro.

I actually found some great info from another one of his patients on the post op part of this forum. Now I am praying I'll be an acceptable candidate for the BHR. Fingers, legs toes and paws crossed here !! read that he is considered in the top 50 Drs. doing this surgery?!! What a surprise to me that he is minutes from home. One thing I am totally blown away by, is the fact that right in the same building as Dr. Ferro is a chiropractor I was seeing for almost a year who never ordered one xray and charged me a fortune, and kept insisting all that was wrong with me could be corrected by a proper DIET!!! I'm 5'7" 143, so it's not like I'm carrying around 100 extra pounds :(( I've wasted so much time, when I could have probably had them BOTH done by now and pretty well recovered!!
Will report back to everyone as to how it goes with Dr. Ferro tomorrow. This area is a really nice place to visit, so it could be awesome if we found another really good resurfacing Dr. so many can avoid the necessity of traveling to a big city :))
Oh what a dream it would be to have my health and life back and to live without constant pain and be able to sleep !!
