Title: Done!
Post by: Aerial on December 05, 2011, 06:06:26 PM
Out of recovery at 3:15 and walked the hall by 5:00!  Amazing I'm still a little numb from the epidural.  My foot points striaight ahead, something I have not seen in a couple years. A little out of it but doing well!  It was a quick process.  I woke up and was done.  Funny thing is I did not personally see Dr. Gross. I'm assuming he did the surgery!  He spoke to my husband afterward ans said it went as expected.....more later!

Good job.  Nice to have it done, huh.

My foot pointing more forward was something I noticed a few weeks later after PT.

Congrats!

Hope it was everything everyone told you.

My big thing was being able to let my leg lay flat in bed.

Love it Aerial! How's the hip feel, and are you wearing the funny socks?

Yes, I am rocking the socks.  Feeling good, I am no longer numb and I walked the hallway at about 5:00.  Everyone is super here.  I had my first therapy at about 4:30.  Feeling pretty good, not nauseous or dizzy. I had lasagne for dinned which was tasty.  I wanted to walk again but they said once is enough.  Lovely husband  brought me a good cup of coffee!  More later!

Hello Aerial!

Glad everything went well for you...Fantastic!  Keep up the good work.

So you're rocking the socks, up and walking, enjoying the coffee and lasagna...but have you tried to sleep with the "FOAM WEDGE"! yet?

Just kidding!  It's not that bad.  Have a good recovery!

Take care, Bruce

Actually it 12:11 here.  I am on my good side with a bunch of pillows between my legs.  I can't seem to fall asleep which is very weird since I have alot of meds in me.  I didn't think I could sleep on my side but they allowed it with pillows.  Super glad it is only one night.  Can't wait to try out my new hip again in the morning (walking)!

Sounds awesome.  I too didn't see Dr. Gross until the next morning.  He came into the room with Lee and answered my drugged-up questions and gave me an xray copy of my new hip.  Enjoy!

Yes, Dr. Gross was in this morning and I got my X-ray.  Kind of freaky to see the device in your own body.  I'm having slight problem this morning with my blood pressure very low.  I'm quite small and it might be the meds that are in me.   ;D. Home this afternoon.

Aerial,

Glad to hear you are doing well, besides the low blood pressure, which is typical of small athletic females. My wife has the same issue and whenever hospitalized or treated for almost anything, they give her a saline IV to bring her blood pressure up a bit. Of course, my wife also faints on a regular basis. Ask the hospital to bring you the bill, that will get your blood pressure up a bit.

I'm just a few days ahead of you. I slept well at the hospital when I had access to good drugs, but have not slept well at home. I've got plenty of pillows. Bought a recliner to sleep in, which works sometimes. I made a bad choice on recliners. This one seems to grab and hug me whenever I try to get up. I win the wresting match two out of three times, but it wears me out. Perhaps I'm just a bit dizzy.

I haven't seen my x ray. The hip is sore but feels solid, if that makes sense. My right foot points forward now, which is wonderful. I remember how depressing it was watching my foot move to the side over the years as the OA got worse.

I'm excited for you. You're done! You get to go home. Congrats.

Congrats aerial!  Here is to a speedy and paint free recovery.

I too had the low blood pressure thing going.   Could be from pain mess or could be from the method HSS does by taking the BP to very low levels during surgery.   It will come back, just don't push it if you feel dizzy.   Of course you know that.
