Just wondering if anyone else has used supplements post op?
I've been supplementing with calcium, magnesium, glucosamine, msm, chondriotin, omega oils, general vitamins, colostrum, GABA and now started a growth hormone drink. Im hoping that these all help my body heal as fast as possible!
I think anything will help, Danny; I just took multi vitamins and figured my body would grab what it needed.
I did go for a more protein heavy diet, thinking that since a lot of my recovery was geared towards muscle and bone growth, and the calcium supplementation was taken care of by the vitamins.
I'm eating very clean as well! Loads of fruit and veg and good lean protein. Just want to give my body the best chance!
Was asked to take vitamin D and Calcium supplements to help the bone attach and grow. I take the multivitamin like Hern and try to rely on food for the rest.

Yep taking them!:-) I believe that my clean diet should take care of most of my needs but don't see adding a little extra can do any harm.
I have used GABA and the gh matrix before and they defiantly seemed to help me recover so should hopefully help my bones heal.
I noticed on my x ray yesterday my bone density seemed to have dropped in my left leg since the op. Prior to it on xrays both femors were brilliant White. On the one yesterday my right side was brilliant White and my operated side was a shade grayer.
I'm back on my 6 tablet multi-vitamin pack that I was taking until 10 days before surgery.
I'm also getting serious about my diet. In the two months before hip surgery while I was rehabbing from shoulder surgery I put on some lbs that have to go.
Woodstock,
I know what you mean about putting on a few pounds before surgery, I managed to pile on about 30-40! :o
Guys, the thing about Multi-vitimans is that your body doesn't really absorb any of them in pill form. Do some research and they typically just pass thru your urin. A better option is Balanced Essentials Liquid Multi because it's made from food vitimans and not man made ones. Because of this your body absorbs them MUCH better. It doesn't taste all that great but it's prob. the best multi on the market right now.
Multi, Vitamin d, and calcium every day, still doing, 9 weeks out.
Good point pete. I knew that tablets weren't fully absorbed but didn't think they were totally un used. I've just found a liquid food based one on bodybuilding.com I'll order some soon!
Danny
I've done a ton of research on this and found that is what happens with the pills. That is why a 1/2 hour after you take them your urine is neon green. You don't get that with a liquid multi. Bodybuilding.com is awesome. If I order from them today I will have it tomorrow.
I love bb.com! They take slightly longer to ship to the uk but there awesome!
