I will post a full story later but right now I am sharing & looking for information about running, ok, jogging, after BHR. (;-D
I did the research and walked-no (!) running for just about 2 years after my surgery, Lots of hiking. Walking. Even climbed Kilimanjaro on my one year anniversary. Pictures will be posted when I share my "story".
Anyway, I started slowly, after almost 2 years, letting the bones grow around and into the device a mile or two once a week. Now going into my 3rd year I do a few 3-4 mile runs and a 5-7 mile run weekly with no adverse feelings. (Oh, I take aerobic classes, bicycle and swim too). It feels positively great! I feel so fortunate to have my active lifestyle back!! At 5'11", 160 lbs I believe I am not putting too much load on the hip doing what I do according to not feeling anything adverse, especially even after exercise.
I am concerned about the long range implications though.
I have read as much as I can about what the doctors have to say about it and the range is all over the place. My Dr. tried to discourage me from running but I believe he just felt it would be a more conservative course of action vs what the prosthesis and my bones can handle.
So fellow BHR mates & Doctors? Can you help with info/share stories about running and results, etc? What do you know?

Michael
