Well its cough colds and flu time of year and I've come down with a bout of something. I think it's just a really bad cold but being only 9.5 weeks post op should I seek medical advice?
YES! God Forbid, you have walking pneumonia or even a garden variety Flu. Your body is counting on you to keep it in tip top conditions, so it can stay busy with healing. Get thee to a doctor pronto, Mr. Life!
Thanks two4 I'm seeing an out of hours doc in an hour. Hopefully he'll give me something to make me fight this off!
*Whew*, I was just getting ready to write again and urge you to go to the local Medpoint type joint, so knowing you'll feel better soon is a relief!
Just seen doc. She was awesome spent ages looking at me(wish she was my regular gp!) she concluded that I don't have a cold but common flu:-( shes instructed me to rest up in bed and to go back if anything gets worse.
My thoughts about colds and flu are that if it is a regular cold, then probably you don't have to worry UNLESS it goes to your lungs and turns to bronchitis or goes to your sinuses and you get a sinus infection. It is the infection part that you have to worry about. Infections can attack metal objects like hip replacement or artificial parts like my aortic valve. So if it is normal, I don't worry much, but if it is turning into an infection or I am wheezing and can't breathe - then I go to the doctor. Infections mean you need antibiotics.

Thanks pat, the doc looked me over pretty good and thinks barring the obvious I'm Ok. She instructed me to go straight back if my symptoms get any worse. She thinks at the mo it's just common seasonal flu.
Dan,
I'm manifesting lots of fluids and chicken soup to kick that flu right out of your body. Get lots of rest, and feed a fever! Get well real soon!
