Returning from my 3 day hike of the canyon from south rim to north and back. WOW...
That was truly epic in all respects. Just magnificent. Difficulty was triple of what I expected and the hip felt great. My pack was heavier than I should have carried, but needed all I had...temps ranged from 10 at night to 65 midday.
Feeling reborn!
Will post a pic or two when home...
:)

Priceless. Thanks for sharing.
That is awesome. Looking forward to the pics.
nice!!
Sounds like a great trip and good news on the hip. Isn't life without hip pain awesome?
I look forward to the pictures.
Dan
Sounds like a lot of fun....I would have a problem though with 10 degrees! I assume you were camping! I like/need it above freezing for camping!
David,
Looking forward to your pictures. I'm planning a trip there this September. I would like to do another rim to rim but I 'm not sure if my wife can do it. You're right about the difficulty. And to think, you did it on your new hip! Amazing!

Out of curiousluty how much weight were you permitted to carry? How far out are you?
Aerial,
Went from S rim to just shy of N rim and back (40 miles). Ran out of water sources and no snow to melt. Was not safe to risk going to the very top. Dr. Su told me to keep my pack betwwen 25-30 lbs. Was a bit more than that with full water and food supplies going out, but lessened on the trip back. Feel like a fly with no pack on my back today. :) Yes it was cold the first night camping on the north end! We hade a 3 man sandwich in a 2 man tent, luckily I was one piece of the bread.
D.
Thanks for sharing the pictures. Looks great!

Go Dave! It must have been a great trip. Thanks for the pictures. When I meet you I'll tell you my joke about three men in a tent.
David,
Great pictures! You were smart not chancing it with the lack of water. The GC is not a place to push your luck. You'll never forget your experience there. Words can't explain what it's like.
Thanks for sharing. We've been deciding on upcoming vacations, and that was just added to the list!
imgetinold,
You should do it. I'd stay away from the summer months though, I'm sure it's beastly hot down in the hole then.
If my body holds out and I'm running pain free in the future, I'm going back to run the thing with no or little pack on my back...
Best...
David
Awesome pictures. Thanks for sharing. Less than six months is encouraging. I can't wait until I'm active again
Take a patient with a bad hip, stir in an experienced doctor with a quality device and the knowledge to install it correctly and you have David.
Nice pics David. So glad you are doing well.
