Title: Hip previously pinned-potential problem?
Post by: Mike D on February 01, 2012, 02:45:37 PM
Hi all- I had my hip pinned for 1 year aged 15 (I'm now 49)due to a condition called 'slipped fermoral epiphysis'.
It's a fairly common thing at that age, but I wonder, now that I need a new hip due to OE, will this have a bearing on whether or not I'm a candidate for resurfacing?
I'm seeing Mr Treacy in April and I know he's the man to sort me out one way or another, but maybe there's someone else out there who has had a resurfacing after a pinned hip. Any thoughts? Cheers, Mike.

Hi Mike, here's one guy who had a resurfacing done in 2009 after it was pinned when he was 14 to address slipped epiphysis.

Hope that helps, I have a feeling you'll be doing well with Mr. Treacy.

Thanks for that, hernanu.
I'm glad I've seen it done-hope it bodes well for me.
I've read some incredible things on here about how all kinds of problems like dysplasia are overcome but not yet come across this one.
Cheers, Mike.
