Title: Please be sensitive and polite in posting topics
Post by: Pat Walter on February 25, 2012, 09:08:22 AM
Just a reminder to folks to please be polite and sensitive in posting topics.  I recently had a person post that he wanted "horror" stories for hip resurfacing.  I have sections for stories about people with problems.  There are 2 sections on the main website:

http://www.surfacehippy.info/hipresurfacingproblems.php (http://www.surfacehippy.info/hipresurfacingproblems.php)

http://www.surfacehippy.info/postopissues.php (http://www.surfacehippy.info/postopissues.php)

And below in the discussion group is the heading Serious Post Op Problems and Revisions

Please understand this website is about the good outcomes of hip resurfacing.  They are in the 94-99% range depending on which studies and which surgeons series are being studied.  I know there are problems and welcome people with problems.  There are places to post their stories and the people here are very kind and supportive of those people.  I won't allow doctor bashing.  I certainly allow any patient to write their story, good or bad, and tell who their surgeon is.  I don't allow them to go beyond that in bashing the doctor.  If there are that many problems, please take it off line - it is between you and your doctor or your lawyer.  I think we all have opinions about our surgeons and I allow those opinions, but I don't need the negative libel type stuff posted over and over.

Please remember this discussion group is open to the public and anyone can read it.  If you continue to post negative information about your surgeon, that could be considered libel.  I would be careful in getting very detailed about how bad your surgeon is on a public forum.  I think saying your are upset and not happy with the outcome, stating the problem and saying what you plan to do is enough.  We are here to support you, but not bash surgeons in detail here.

Thank You.
