26th April with Mr Treacy, get in, be nice to lose the limp (until the other starts that is, hopefully not for another few years) lol.
Great, Steve - you've got one of the best.
The time will FLY BY!!! Good Luck and So Long to the Limp!
Steve your in the hands of one of the finest surgeons on the planet. Just trust that he will do his job which he undoubtedly will and concentrate on relaxing and recovering.
Danny
Bl**dy NHS, they just cancelled it, got to wait another week. boo :(
S'alright steven, let it slide right off your back. That time slips by fast, you'll have the rest of your life without that pain; bummer, but you're coming good soon.
In ROH in 7 hours, see you all on the other side. :)
All the best for the journey ahead - look forward to getting your life back!

Great steve. Best of luck. Which ward you on?
Good luck steve...
Short stay ward. All went well got bhr despite AVN. Talk again when I home, physio just turned up boo hoo lol
Welcome to the other side steve. Mr Treacy will always try to install a BHR whenever he can so you getting one even with AVN does not supprise me at all. Just remember to look after yourself and rest lots eat well and ice alot!
Excellent steve! Follow Danny's advice and you'll be good.
How are you feeling steve?
Hi just got home, feeling not to bad, just icing at the moment.
Ditto! Thats exactly what im doing! :)
Congrats Steve!!! Be nice to yourself, have patience and count all the small blessings. Day by day, week by week, it gets better. My toughest part was sleeping. At 6 wks I was still sleeping on the couch, maybe 3 hrs at a time. at 15 weeks now, that's a very distant memory. It just keeps getting better!
I feel for ya mate. Lack of sleep is no fun.
Since the op I have had no trouble sleeping, first night in my own bed last night, wife had all sorts for me in case I woke up (flask, juice, biscuits, she's a star) but again apart from a bit of trouble getting in bed I took my meds and that was me for seven hours ace. I guess I might be lucky in this, in fact I had more pain pre op.
How's the recovery going steve?
Really good mate, hip feels ace. The past few days have seen all my brusing finally come out so it is very stiff and swollen around the lower thigh and knee, I guess from the trauma of the op. If it was not for that I would be walking a bit better. Bit of hassle getting on the toilet as I have no restrictions, but really pleased so far mate.
Thats awesome mate!! :)
Sounds really good, steve - keep it up, the swelling will go down and you'll see a lot of improvement.
Yup, sounds like a normal recovery to me. :)
How's the recovery going steve?
Just an update folks, going well so far, still can't bend my knee fully, still have some swelling, brusing going down now also had first shower yesterday which was a bit of a challenge getting in as its over the bath. Down to one stick around the house, when did you go to no sticks at all. I have been told no restrictions full weight bearing but I think its a confidence thing, feel a little worried to try.
I went no walking aids when I got the first checkup with the Dr. Su.So it was almost a full 4 weeks. When I get tired I do still have a slight limp, but when I'm fresh I walk great. Still have some aches and pains here and there but nothing that really hurts. I'm able to tie my shoes and put my socks on again without too much discomfort.....have not been able to do that for a long time! It only gets better as each day passes and some major accomplishments can happen overnight.....it's weird that way. Good luck in your recovery! Keep icing and you'll be walking without aids in no time at all.

Hey Steve - I had no restrictions as well and was full weight bearing on both sides. I also took about 4-5 weeks on both sides to walk without aids.
Full weight bearing to me just meant still using aids (crutch until then) just that in my walking there was no restriction on how much weight the joint could hold. The muscles still needed the aid for a while.
How you progressing steve?
Sorry Danny not been on here for few days. Was back at roh yesterday didn't see the man but they seem happy. My knee is bending better now, still on one stick so they gonna send me to physio as they said I have some muscle wastage due to my limp per op. I reckon another week or two and I'll be off the last stick, bad news is they wanna do my other hip, not this year I told them no chance lol.
Unfortunately on the NHS for routine check ups I don't think Mr Treacy has the time. Sounds like your progressing well tho mate.
Danny
Had a good few days, one thing Im pleased about is putting on my trousers standing up, it's been months since I could do that. Walking round the house with no stick feels weird but gonna stick at it still a few muscles not quite working, forgot this morning and walked up the stairs normal got half way up and thought I'm not holding the hand rail lol.
Hoping to get back to work in 4 weeks, it's stacking up so hopefully I'm be ok
Good going steve! You'll find yourself doing that a lot - doing something and then realizing .... HUH? how long has it been since I did X?
