Title: Post operation activities
Post by: Referee1962 on April 01, 2008, 11:58:06 AM
Hello all,
I am scheduled to have a resurfacing done in August with Dr Mont of Balt.  I am 46 have always been very active  running, soccer etc...
What level of activity should I expect to reach post op..?  I know all patients are different ..I would just like to get an idea of my limitations with a resurfaced hip.
Thanks Billy

Hi Billy

You should not be limited at all in your activities unless you have some special problem.  Most people have hip resurfacing so they can become active again.

Here are a handful of athletes back to doing what they love  http://www.surfacehippy.info/athletes.php (http://www.surfacehippy.info/athletes.php)    and some regular people back to doing what they like too  http://www.surfacehippy.info/hipstories.php (http://www.surfacehippy.info/hipstories.php)

You should probably ask your doctor what he feels would be your limitations.  That is the best way to know if something unusual exists in your hip and recovery.   The rest of us are just back to doing what we want to.

Pat
