Title: Corin mini hip surgery scheduled
Post by: Spanielsal on July 26, 2012, 05:36:11 PM
I think I should probably start a thread of my own on this. I have a Cormet 2000 resurfacing done 9 years ago. With the metal on metal problems found by the ASR recipients many surgeons, including mine, have stopped using resurfacing particularly on women and especially on those with a secondary OA diagnosis (my primary is hip dysplasia) and I also have heightened metal sensitivities. So, being of the resurfacing "generation" bone conservation is key and although I was offered a more conventional THR in February we have been striving for a smaller prosthesis. Today I was given the go ahead for surgery by the lovely surgeon Mr Villar, despite his preference to scope me first he could tell that we were at the end of the road with the pain, restrictions and disability. Mr Villar has cared for me since my diagnosis in 96/97.  So, 14th of August, I shall be beginning my own road to pain free! I also have the honour of being among some of the last arthroplasty patients that he will do, he is going to concentrate on arthroscopy as he is one of the best in the world at those and he's taking on other things.  Thanks to all on this site for the support, ready answers and good humour which has kept me going over the past months.

All the best for next month Sal.  I had similar concerns with finding a surgeon to do metal on metal.  You obviously have a longstanding and trusting relationship with your surgeon, who who do what is best for you.  I believe that your personal confidence for what is in store counts for a lot.  Believe!

Hey Sal, what do you mean by 'scope'?? You have said that twice now and I dont know what it means  ::)

Anna a "scope" is basically key hole on the hip joint. It's called an arthroscopy. They can sort of re-engineer the morphology of the joint. However from my own experience and from what others have said along with reports I've read the outcomes of this op are generally poor if OA is within the joint.

Congrats, Sal - as I mentioned, my brother in law has had his corin minihip in for a year and is now in good shape; he is a trial lawyer, so is on his feet quite a bit, he also works out four times per week and is motoring without pain.

Good luck and a happy future.

Thanks guys, I am so much happier going with Mr Villar, he's a lovely guy, I trust him implicitly and he let me discuss the options freely but at the end of the day he's willing to give me back my mobility. Thank goodness. So good to hear your brother in law is doing well with the mini hip too. Trying to equip the house and me for post op. Seats over 19", raised toilet seats etc. the red cross in England lends this stuff out but ...... Not in Scotland! Argh ....

You'll be fine, Sal - you know the drill, and if you want advice on refitting for the recuperation, we'd be glad to bend your ear, just happy you've got a good path now.

moved forward a week.... now on 7th August.  a whole bag of emotions but sitting on them with the thought that winter is coming and i will be in a much better place this year, well on that recovery road.

I get very very nervous pre-procedure,  so am just trying to quell that now. I was trying to talk myself out of the op last time, when sitting waiting for my slot on the list!  I KNOW it will be better in a couple of weeks, but I'm just such a big BABY!  the pain i can deal with, it's the anesthetic!  you''d think i'd have grown out of that by 40!

Family ambition to walk the West Highland way together next summer.  Its good to have a goal and something cool to look forward to.

WOO HOO!

Just think Sal, you have every excuse under the sun to just sit in bed next week and watch the rest of the olympics. I think thats a great time to go into hospital ... just please dont get carried away and bounce around screaming and do damage!! :)

Dont be nervous either. You have a good surgeon and they all know what they are doing. Im sure you will be fine. Keep thinking about that west highland way  ;D

Good luck x x x

Very hard not to scream and bounce, had it all today, even tears watching the British female rowers. Will be on the Zimmer frame 10 metre crawl ...... Followed by the 3stair clamber and round the hospital crutch hop, the Olympics are bringing out the competitive edge ....  ;D

Oh goodness a lot can happen in a couple of days! Was a bit nervous so they let my hubby come into the anaesthetic room. Woke up in recovery talking a million miles an hour. Apparently the femoral head was horrid, despite not showing up on X-ray or MRI. Bless mr Villar, he treated me the patient not the X-rays. Eternally grateful for my new life that s about to start. The block was wearing off and I got very itchy, morphine doesn't do much for my pain but also makes me itch, probably because I've been on long term opiate painkillers. Well the pain got worse and worse, they gve me OxyContin which made me feel sick but didn't touch it, I spent a lot of hours sobbing with pain and lost the small ability I'd had earlier to move my leg, I became very frightened that some thing was wrong, detached muscles, trapped nerves I was utterly panicking. Eventually they gave me something which knocked me out then took out my drain and I now feel like a whole new person. Of course it's sore, they id saw off a bit of my bone and stuff a metal thing in it. Have been in the chair without fainting (major achievement) and can move the leg again, so am looking forward to hobbling with the zimmer later! Thank goodness day 1 is over with!

It's good to have you on the other side, Sal sorry about the pain, but glad they finally got it right. The first few days / weeks are rough in many ways, but the absence of OA pain more than made up for it for me.

It is amazing how much is camouflaged in other ways, except for the pain that you feel.

Congrats and welcome to your recovery!

Home now, a bit sore on the incision and a bit achy in the joint. I want to thank the guys who raved about their recliners / la-z-boy chairs, I have borrowed a "granny" rise and recline chair and it is the most comfortable place to be when not walking. Just feel shattered from the anaesthetic and lost my appetite. Don't even want the glass of wine my husband poured me. Trust me, that is NOT normal for me!  Oh well early days! Just glad to be on the other side, grateful for the op and very excited for the future.  :)

1week anniversary, a spot of elephantitis in the operated leg. Walking going well, stairs fine, just sitting that's a bit sore.

Hi Sal
I have those same feelings you mention about how exiting the future has suddenly become.
I don't think it's possible to feel this way pre-op, despite knowing what to expect.
I really can't remember the last time I felt as positive as I do now. It won't be too long before you fancy that glass of wine!
Mike.

Thanks guys, walking is getting easier, just have to plod through the early days doing lots of little when all you really want to do is launch straight back in to former life. It is a patience game and I've been here before. So grateful to be on the up, however slowly. Keep toddling off for a late afternoon nap to kick the anaesthetic blues.

Oh how I long for proper sleep. Haven't been too bad pain wise except for last thing at night when my knees feel like giant taut tomatoes about to split, the thigh is swollen too. Last night was the worst night for sleep so far, watching the clock tick round from 2am until 6am when I decided to try the dive bomb bed position again which was successful for an hour of sleep until the leg felt giant and woke me, so pleased that Morph says ths is now a distant memory. There is hope!

The only concern I have is that my drain site hasn't healed, could this be due to the anti DVT injections? I might make a new thread for that to see if anyone else has had that.
Title: Re: Corin mini hip surgery scheduled

Sleep is rough, Sal - I had the torrential night sweats both times, so was not sleeping well until about the fourth week, when it stopped. After that, I slept for 5-6 hours at a time, which was a HUGE improvement on pre-HR, when I would at most sleep for about three hours, interrupted by bouts of pain.

Even now, I sleep mostly 6-7 hours a day, but I think that's just me. I slept for 8 hours one of the weekend nights and awoke totally nonplussed, and I am usually thoroughly plussed at all times.

Post by: rubyred on August 20, 2012, 01:16:42 PM
I'm battling with the sleep issue too. I wake probably every couple of hours, which is worse than pre-surgery I have to say. But then again, i've stopped taking my sleeping tablets so that might come into it.

It's the getting comfortable, feel like your leg is about to burst with swelling and the incision pain for me!
Title: Re: Corin mini hip surgery scheduled
Post by: Spanielsal on August 20, 2012, 01:37:51 PM
Ruby, we battle together. I also have dropped the sleeping tablet as am too reliant.

Hern, that is great news, only 4 weeks post op when you regained a more normal sleeping pattern, I was pleased with the 9 week date, even more so with 4.

I could have been a team gb Olympic sleeper pre hip pain, I love my sleep. 8 + hrs and I'm very happy, then again I'm normally a bit dopey, perhaps that's why?  ;)
Title: Re: Corin mini hip surgery scheduled
Post by: hernanu on August 20, 2012, 01:51:23 PM
I had sleep problems long before OA - I was working like a nut (sometimes 100 hour weeks) when my daughters were babies, so I took all of the night feedings to have a connection with them, which completely wrecked my sleep habits - I went on to sleeping about six hours per day, so this is getting back to normal.

If I can (like has been happening lately) get some days which are 7 or 8 hours, I'm completely psyched. To me it's the continuous sleep that has been a blessing. I can really get some deep sleep now. `

You're not alone,Sal.
I got about three and a half hours in one go just last night-easily the most since the night before surgery.
My leg and foot went down a lot overnight, so I walked slightly further today.
I'm sat here now with the ice on paying for it!
Do you find the bruising gets very itchy? Mine is unbearable at times- I've found that my grabber stick acts as a great scratcher, but it's soon back.
Aqueous cream lashed on heavily is a good fix though!
Title: Re: Corin mini hip surgery scheduled
Post by: rubyred on August 20, 2012, 02:10:49 PM
Oh Mike, the itching is awful!! It's like having Chicken Pox, you know you shouldn't be scratching but you just can't help it!

Is anyone else suffering from muscle twitching?? Strange question I know, but I usually get this when I settle down for a nap and then my muscles start twitching, waking me up!
Title: Re: Corin mini hip surgery scheduled
Post by: bilateralbliss on August 20, 2012, 08:57:52 PM
Try elevating the foot a little too, plus pillows under the leg along with one to bend the knee.
It`s a case of can`t have enough pillows to play around with.
Itching could be due to the heat? Only going by my experience. Maybe not a good time to leave the sleepers yet.
Gets easier every week :)

It's my three week anniversary today. My scar is healed, drain site almost there, pain is low. Movements are getting better. The surgical incision is still tight, movement there is uncomfortable. Sleeping is getting better, still miss side sleeping but can't seem to feel safe on the pillow between the legs. I'm frustrated that time just takes so long, but it just does. You can't hurry recovery. I'll be driving in a few short weeks. This weekend I might even get to go swimming f the drain site plays ball with me!

In short, life is a whole lot better than it was! I'm a funny (peculiar not a funny haha) hippy hybrid, if technology and my dim wits can collaborate together I should post up a photo of the Corin rang, I've got the first two, the Cormet and the short stem mini hip.

Nope, I can't do it! :-[. Too thick! Sorry. It's on the Corin website though, if there is anyone researching these things in time to come.

Happy anniversary, Sal!
Me tomorrow and Ruby on thursday-Hasn't that gone quick?
I've found that I can now roll over onto my good side with pillow between legs and rest like that for about half-hour, it really releives the pressure on the back and I feel totally safe doing it.
Swimming-what a lovely thought!
I was going to ask Mr T about that when I go back but maybe I could go sooner-the idea of floating in water would be heaven!
Title: Re: Corin mini hip surgery scheduled
Post by: Spanielsal on August 28, 2012, 06:11:09 AM
I think, Mike, if your wounds are healed and someone is with you you should be fine. Speak to a surgical team member if in doubt. I checked with the pool that they were happy too, they were a little nervous of the crutches around the poolside but I was using two sticks beforehand and they'll give me a helper the first time. I'm going to do some gentle exercises from the "heal your hips" book that the physios looked at when I was in hospital, they ticked the ones for me to do.

Even just floating would be good. Looking back three weeks, what a lot has been achieved!  The future is ours! Thank goodness I'm getting my life back. I'm only now taking the odd paracetamol. I dropped the Tramadol last night too. I can hear my liver breathing a sigh of relief!  Hope you are doing ok too Mike, did you find out which kind of implant you got? Whichever it is, it seems to be doing the job. Happy floating! X
Title: Re: Corin mini hip surgery scheduled
Post by: Mike D on August 28, 2012, 06:22:49 AM
Sal
I intended to email Mr T about my implant but then thought I'd leave it till I go back in 3 weeks and discuss it then.
Yes, it does feel like its doing the job well-I hope I'm saying that in 20yrs time, that would be nice!
I'm so tempted to try walking without crutches as it feels easily strong enough but I won't do it-no way am I putting any strain on the hip that I shouldn't be.
Something really good is that people who have seen me walking up the street have said how straight and upright I looked-so nice after people previously enquiring about my limp!
Title: Re: Corin mini hip surgery scheduled
Post by: Spanielsal on August 28, 2012, 06:37:58 AM
That's great! The surgical team told me that they specify 4 weeks of crutches to slow people down, I guess they've had the odd one overdo it, I'm with you, following the letter of the law, no way I want to lose this prematurely. I feel so good walking, just a slight pressure on the crutches with every step. This way we are training our bodies correctly. My mum who is a physio suggested that after 4 weeks I go to walking with crutches alternately, ie opposite each leg, just to keep the smooth weight distribution. I think for longer walks that would be good to stop bad habits forming.

Congrats on your straight walking, all fantastic and in only 3 weeks!

Congrats to all of you! So good to see the improvement, just wait for the upcoming improvements once you are more independent.

Sal, if Mr. Treacy is good with it, and the incision has healed, light massage of the incision site I think helped me to get rid of possible scar tissue, removing some of the tightness from the area. My nurse, PT, etc. were fine with it, but you want to go with your surgeon's recommendations.

I usually did it myself, as taught by my PT, they also did it during outpatient PT... again VERY light.

Title: Re: Corin mini hip surgery scheduled
Post by: Spanielsal on August 28, 2012, 01:48:11 PM
Thanks Hern, I'm gently rubbing oil on it every morning and night, I might just increase the pressure to massage if I can tolerate it. If not I'll try again in a week. I'm using bio oil to help the scar tissue appearance.

I think you guys get better PT over there! I'm with Anna, perhaps we should move?

Yeuch, I've gone and caught a lergy  :-[

Being a mum, most of my visitors are also mums and one of them brought a small person with them who was too poorly to be at school. I didn't think anything of it at the time because normally I'm immune to all the coughs, colds and splutters that the kids bring home but I must be particularly weak post op because I've succumbed. Shivers, sweats, bone aches, coughing, sneezing, sore throat and just generally feel like death warmed up.  I just have to ride it out, but was venting to all you lovely peeps, you understand that the road to recovery is already tough enough!

I'm quarantined, my lovely husband has worked from home for two weeks to help me, so he doesn't want it, he works away monday to Thursday normally and is going back next week, my daughter has just started high school and she really doesn't want it either, so I'm really really bored now! Ok I'm done moaning! X

Thank you for your message Pat, I'm slowly kicking ths lergy. Today is my 4 week anniversary.

I'm moving around pretty well, in the house I'm using 1 crutch generally. In the kitchen I frequently move without the crutch for a few steps, I'm still dipping which tells me I need to work on the muscle strength before losing the crutches. I will hang on to them so that my walking improves stability, which is sad because I want to ditch them at the oropendola time but I know it is not a race, I've just got to recover right. I do need them for stability outside, our pavements are rough and I nearly got swept off my feet by the slipstream of a lorry when out walking. I don't think he was particularly speeding although I did wave my crutches at him like an angry beetle. I think he just drove pretty close to me. I am walking a bit further every other day, the bug has wiped out my strength so my furthest is 3/4 of a mile and then a very sore leg for the next day.

The drain site took ages to heal, I'm pleased to say that it is fully closed now. I still have a very sore and tender bum, thats only to be expected. Weight loss is minimal but I've been feeding my cold......  ;D

I'm desperate to get into the pool but lovely hubby as had to return to work so I'm flying solo and have no transport. Is 6 miles to the pool, very rural so taxis not an option. I'm about to start asking my friends to take me, which I'm sure they won't mind.

All in all it's not the speediest of recoveries but I know I'll get there, it's all steps forward to my renewed, rejuvenated and restored future. Hip surgery is miraculous, you guys and all the support and friendship on ths site is bloody marvellous. A huge thank you to you all.

Sal xx

Sal, it actually sounds like a pretty good recovery (except for getting sick).

My brother in law is at one year or so and is cranking along with his Corin mini hip, working out four times a week, practicing law on his feet quite a bit during the day, feeling fine.

Great steps forward, Sal.

Getting there! It's a bit tight Ka, in the bruised tissues but no pain as such. I just do the waddle walk, trendelenburg gait I think it's called where your upper body swings over. I think I should correct that with exercise, at least I hope so!  How are you getting on?
Title: Re: Corin mini hip surgery scheduled

Hi Sal

I am making gains, though some days better than others, had bad lower back pain for the first time yesterday but cleared with some meds and heat pack.  I'm getting a bit frustrated with my gait too, I think I limped for so long before the op that there is some muscle memory there!  Going on one crutch ok but find that I ache if I do this for too long.  Was expecting to be able to do some tidy steps without crutches, there is no pain as such but then why the limp!

Have found that concentrating on my posture does help, head up straight back, no slouching.  Just need to do more exercise I think.  Few nice walks in the sunshine today, hope the weather is good for you too.  Also can't wait to have a nice long bath.

Ka

They cut through the gluteus mediums in my op, this I believe is the muscle that s weak and causing my waddle. Apparently the exercise lifting the leg out to the side will help this.  I'm now so happy to be swimming again.

Try the leg lifts, it might help you?

Sal-
How's the hip healing? I see you're swimming, how did that feel the first time you got in?
I'm gonna wait till I see Mr Treacy to go swimming, I'm sure I'd be ok but it's only 10 days till I see him so I'll wait.
What about an exercise bike-have you tried that?
I used to go on mine quite a bit to ease the OA, and it's another thing I'm looking forward to trying.
Hope all is well, Mike.

Hey Mike! Good o hear from you.  The swimming felt so good, free, light and relaxing. I'm a water baby so was straight back at home. I can crawl front and back and have a whole sheet of exercises! Fantastic.

Had a setback on rough ground; walking up a steep hill with crutches was not clever. Back to normal now. Almost off the crutches in the house but still clinging to them out and about. Somehow my sticks feel unstable now. I think it's the lorry slipstream that panicked me. I'm sure I'll get stronger. A little old lady was sucked under a lorry in a town near ours, I really felt how that could be possible, despite the fact that I'm a sturdy burd! It practically lifted me off my feet.  Just need to eat a few more choccy biccies To weigh me down  ;D just kidding!

How are you doing? I haven't tried the bike but am promised a gym program once I get stronger in the pool.  You are lucky seeing mr T in 10 days, I see someone else and on the 11th Oct!  My car insurance said any doc old sign me back on so I'll see the GP.

Hope you are getting on well, Mike.

I'm so excited, at 5 weeks and one day I hit a milestone - only you guys would understand most people would give me the crazy lady look.

I turned over in bed past the operated side without thinking and it was fine! I now quite regularly forget my crutches and go back for them when setting off outside, get into bed quite normally, and can do most things.

Hurrah! I'm doing really well but the turn over in bed, well something special! I love my bed especially now I have to leave it at 5.45am every morning!

Sounds good Sal. I love those little milestone moments, sometimes a minor thing feels like a huge triumph.
The weeks are flying by. We'll soon be fit to be let loose into society once again!

You guys sounds great! excellent, remember to push yourselves a bit but stay within your bounds. Complete opposites, but they work for hippies.

Anna, your time will come...

Well done Sal.  Know exactly what you mean about that realisation when you have done something new.  Almost sat down with my legs tucked underneath me earlier, but managed to stop myself in time. Don't think would be a good move yet.

Keep on with the walking and the swimming.

Oh I got lost counting ... Stuck at lots!   ;D

Actually walking is definitely improving. Slight limp so maintaining the 1 crutch and might move o a walking stick later. Boy do the sticks feel unstable now after crutches.

I've been to do my pool work out and am now exhausted, nap time!

Not too much longer Anna, I know it seems ges but it will fly by.  Have you thought about speaking to the secretary and telling her that Mr W said you need a THR, you might be able to provisionally book an op date... Just a thought. If you wait to see him, your op date will be correspondently later.  We just want you fixed too, ASAP xxx

I guess its only 6 weeks away now. I dont think they will book me in for an op when Mr W hasnt even seen me yet. Ah, ive been really hurting last night and today. Booo. I felt good yesterday  :-[

What kind of stuff have you been doing in the pool Sal?

Hi Anna

Only six weeks away, not long really. I don't think it would hurt to ask the question But as we've previously discussed, I'm not patient and am a bit pushy when it comes to what is best for me and the family.

Glad you had a good day. Sorry you had a bad night and day to follow :(

The pool is fantastic. It's chest deep all over so I warm up walking 2 lengths forwards and backwards. Scissor kicks lying on a woggle, deep leg press type kicks also on the woggle, standing exercises : the basic side lifts, 45 degree behind lifts then kicks, standing n the woggle for resistance I lift op leg and push it back down, I have been known on very good days to do the side lifts with the woggle but can be scary! Then I swim legs only lengths front and back crawl, return to some of the standing exercises, and walk up the pool with bigger strides concentrating on heel toe and not falling over. Finally I give in and do some proper swimming then head off to the steam rooms.

A lot of ministry of funny walks stuff and I do get some very odd looks!  I'm waiting for the opportunity to use Hern's "oh this....I was shaving...." but sadly I don't think it's going to arise  ::)

All that stuff plus breast stroke would be good pre op too. And of course your cycling!  How's the shoulder? Hope it's all better today. Xx

Sorry Sal, I must have missed this reply!  :o

Im jotting down the pool exercises and all your tips!!! My shoulder is doing well thanks ... but thats probably because I havent been out on the road bike for a couple of weeks. Ive been sticking to the MTB with all this rain. Plus, I reckon that lovely wheat bag has done the trick. Its my favourite belonging  ;D

Hi Ruby,

I'm doing really well thanks. Hope you're okay. I've been really busy just with stuff feeling a bit down but I think that's other stuff not the hip and im still exhausted. I don't seem to have the energy to pull myself out of it at the moment so just staying very quiet.  Doing what I can. Caught myself running up the stairs yesterday, was a bit early for that! Also tried to carry my old dog downstairs last night from the sitting room to kitchen, also too early. She's arthritic and I know how THAT feels!

I still can't get my socks on normally, but the hip feels ok, a little weak but ok.  This rain isn't helping because I just want to hibernate! Must push myself out of the door!  Hope you are all doing well! Glad the wheat bag helps Anna! Xx

I know the feeling about lack of energy. I'm almost forcing myself to do at least a little walking every day, but what with the crappy weather just lately all I want to do is crawl under the duvet!

I've gotten rid of all walking aids now and it feels a little weak, but ok. I still feel as if I need some physio...

It feels like an age since I posted on my thread.  Life has been tough getting back to normal, the hip has been fine but there have been other challenges.  I had my sign off appointment yesterday which involved a trip from here in the Borders to London, it was 7am to 10.30pm all in, and I was all in afterwards but a really interesting and excellent appointment.  I walked miles around the London transport system and to and fro appointments all day and still managed to drive home (45mins) from the airport late at night.  All of these things would have been unthinkable 10 short weeks ago.  I remain incredibly grateful that I had this operation and the recovery has been very fast in reality although I did have my impatient moments  ;D.

The surgical team member I met was very interesting, she says I'm hypermobile and this fact explains the reason why my MRI didn't show up the cartilage damage and why the X-rays show good joint space but in fact the condition of the joint is much worse in reality than these tools show up.  I was incredibly lucky to have a surgeon who was able to see my lack of quality of life and schedule the surgery despite the tools of MRI and X-ray not showing up the damage as they would in normal people.  Sigh, I always have to be difficult!  :D

I've tried to attach a photo of my wonderful new hip.  All signed off as in perfect working order.  I still have groin pain when trying to lift a straight leg up off the bed and I still have lots of work to do to be fit and strong, however, I'm so darned happy to be back to life.  My kids are delighted, My husband too.

I pray we won't go back to those dark days but logically I know that there are more surgeries in my future.  I am sad not to have a resurfacing on both sides particularly given the longevity that we all expect from them but the trade off was that I was fixed, I'm out of pain.  I still feel bitter about the surgeon who told me that joint replacement therapy wasn't appropriate for me and also the surgeon who requested that I prove my problems with a scope operation first.  For those with hypermobility apparently it is normal to have such a long recovery after arthroscopy surgery which was the way for me.  Much longer than the recovery from my hip resurfacing or my minihip, so you can imagine my feelings when asked to go through that just to prove my problems.  Couldn't they just listen to me and my quality of life? clearly not, but now I have a bright new shiny hip, hopefully I have overcome my technical problems and have uploaded my file so you can see it too.

thank you hippys, I am so grateful for all the support and help.  I'm eternally grateful to my wonderful surgeon too.  Time to pay it forward now.  (oscar speech ends! ::))

Sal

That's great news that things have gone so well for you, especially after all the initial frustrations of getting to your surgery.  Keep up the progress with all your exercise and I'm sure it will continue to improve for you.

Hi Sal,
Just caught up on your thread-what a great x-ray!
It looks absolutely perfect, so neat and tidy. I'm going to ask for my x-ray-I hope it looks like that!

Just thought I'd close out my thread. I have nearly forgotten all about hip pain.  Sometimes I remember that I've had surgery but most of the time I'm just getting on with life.  Sure I'm a little cautious at times (although I'm hankering after waterfall abseiling) but for anyone reading this in the future worrying about life afterwards, I hope you are as lucky as me, to be given back my life not once but twice I am truly blessed.

Thank you to the wonderful hippies, I check in infrequently now, but remain grateful always

Sal

Sal, I like your style-' busy getting on with life', you say.
I try to see it that way too. I don't want my THR to be foremost in my thoughts for too much longer.
It's been  over a year of having it there at all times and like you say, that natural caution is there but it's fading.
I hope you keep checking in and posting up whats going on, us two and Ruby were all within 3 days so it would be great to see how we're doing in the future.
Also, we need to see the waterfall abseiling pics!
It's great to hear you doing so well, Sal- keep it going.
