Thanks again Pat, both for your kind wishes and a very heartfelt gratitude for this site where support, encouragement, information and a good old fashioned giggle can be found. It has REALLY helped me stay sane as life has been severely restricted for the last 7 months. I LOVE the jokes page, keep re-reading it on bad days ; :)

Thanks guys, have checked in, drawn arrows on the leg and linked in to patient wifi. I'm on after lunch so they've let me have a cup of tea. Finally fell asleep when Roger got up to have a shave at 6.20 so have had 15mins kip, guess I'll be catching up this afternoon! Never thought the painkillers did much until you stop all of them, we couldn't remember what I was allowed the night before so reluctantly agreed to take none! Bad move! The anesthetist has let me take something now. Danny, I found out I'm getting a titanium cup lined with plastic and a ceramic head. Mr Villar will do op but I won't see him except in recovery because he's off to London. Roger and kids are heading to Olympics this afternoon, without me .... Sob... But I reckon I'll get a good view on the telly and they said they'd wave!

Getting a bit close now. All the best to you all. Will find out tomorrow if my op is on for Thursday 9th. Been cancelled once so trying not to get hopes up too much. Won't believe it's happening until I'm on the operating table and then will probably try to do a runner (well a hobble).

It's 2.40am and we'll be leaving for Birmingham soon. I'm all packed and quite nervous I have to say. I hope all goes well and i'll be pain free when I wake.
I'm not sure when I'll be able to log in next, but Anna, Suze and Danny have my number so I'm sure one or all will be able to update you all on how things went.
Thanks to all for the help you've given since i've been posting. It's been a long road and a tough fight to get to this point but i'm finally here after 3.5 years of complete agony.

Hi all, Mike I hope you got on ok yesterday and today I'm thinking of you Ruby and Of you Ka. Day two I feel so much better, pain is now well under control, have showered all by myself and am getting my independence back. Just waiting for physio as I'm pre loaded with Tramadol. It is so lovely that we all have each other to talk to, I feel so much better going through all this with all of you holding my hand. Thanks guys, we just need Anna to get on the list now. Hope you get your appointment through soon, hun. Xxx

Thanks Hernanu and Suze, keep us posted of Ruby's progress, hope she's doing ok. I'm doing well on the physio, just got to keep the reps going and to rest enough too. It's a busy hippy summer!

Been gone for awhile and was curious about Ruby and others (just wasn't tracking Sal and Mike as much). I bet you guys are all happy to have the rougher part of the journey over with. It should all get better from here. Good job all.
Gold medals all round, great to hear Ruby is doing well, I hope she meets Mike that'd be cool. Getting quite fast on the crutches.... If I set off now I might just make the 200! It was a good week to be forced to watch lots of telly!
Great Sal is doing well and Ruby is done. Take it easy and keep us updated when you can.
So nice that everyone can support each other. It means a lot when you are laying in a hospital room with a lot of time waiting to recovery.

I've just txt ruby. She said shes ok. Her notes say Birmingham hip replacement as did mine so looks like she's officially a member of the club! :D

Oh yes, thanks Bilateralbliss, I am very happy. Healing is going great guns, I have an almost natural gait now with about 10-20% weight going through crutches and a heel toe action, it feels good. Incision is still a bit swollen and tight and the joint still feels new but phew, no pain. Just an ache from over doing the physio exercises. Keep us posted about how Ruby and Mike are getting on. Oh and has anyone heard from Ka? Xx

Ruby was having a bad first day but now is feeling much better after nurses altered pain med and gave her ice. She seems to be following my pattern so been easy to support her. Made me realise even more the immense value of this site. Thank you so much Pat, without you we would never be able to be gain so much.
