Title: Medications prior to surgery.
Post by: Mr.Box on September 01, 2012, 04:29:44 PM
I'm scheduled for surgery in two weeks with Dr. Su. I've been taking Ryzolt ( Tramadol ) for the last two weeks to deal with some of the pain of my hips. I didn't want to keep taking 4 advil a day or the same with tylenol.

Is it safe to take Tramadol before and leading up to surgery or ? Should I switch back to Tylenol ? I know Advil is a no-no.

I'd call up Dr. Su, ask his office.

Dittos, when it comes to meds or rehab it's best to ALWAYS ask your doctor.

I would check with the doctor.

Normally, all nsaids like celebrex, asprin, Advil, ibuprophen, etc are stopped because they can cause bleeding.

Normal opiads like Vicodin, tramadol, etc are allowed.  I took Vicodin up to my surgery due to the pain.

Ask your surgeon.  They will make sure you are out of pain without taking NSAIDs.
