Scars ?
Perverts.
Left hip - 9 inches
Right hip - 10 inches
As measured by my nurse after returning home.
Mines on the large side it's around 10-11".
Left hip 7 inches, beautiful job!!
12inches. But then I do have rather large thighs unfortunately.
Mine is Dr Gross's norm of 4". Don't know how he gets his hands in there, but it seems to work for him.
Mr B, you must be feeling better if you can worry about the scars. My right side is fading so fast I could only measure 4 inches of it. My left is 7 inches but it was hard to measure. I think they were around 8 inches but I wouldn't care if they were from my thigh to the middle of my back, my hips feel great. I ran four miles this morning and then spent the rest of the day going up and down the ladder putting the cedar siding on my house.
Don't worry Mr B, you'll be feeling this good soon.
I'm starting to feel really good. Still have lots of clunking going on... but then again I haven't been extremely diligent with my PT. I'm happy that I'm able to do most of the things I want to do on my own again. I can't wait till I'm back to normal and doing everything I want to do without the pain I've felt for almost a decade. The discomfort I've been in the last few weeks is nothing compared to the daily discomfort I've experienced post op with strenuous activity. I've had the " light at the end of the tunnel moment " a lot of us describe during our recovery and I can't wait to reach it.
Mr. Box - just keep up the enjoying. The clunking stayed on for me in diminishing amounts until about seven months went by.
Not so it sounded like Monty Python and the Holy Grail knights, but so I noticed. I still notice slight shifting after a hard workout, but nothing I think about.
Pat has a Poll on scar length and clunking in the polls section. You can find lots of stats on this there.
Both of mine are about 6 or so inches. Surprisingly they are fading. Next Summer I'll be able to wear the Speedo like I own the beach. ::)
Mine is just under 4" (Dr. Gross), but the 100-watt complexion of my butt cheek makes "fading" seem unlikely.
Haven't measured mine but it goes from top left of my right buttock round to the right side of my thigh. Pretty big but who cares? The new scar is fantastic compared to the ones from when I was 6 and 8 years old they are really thick and still very obvious, not sure if that is because they are scar on scar though.
I think my scar tells a better story than my tat! 8)
I'm going to draw one on my ass with a marker pen so I don't feel left out. For the record, I'm gonna make it 8 inches ;D
Hilarious.
9" - curved like a shark bite... at least that's what I tell the kids at the swimming pool!

Quite the image I have now Anna!! ;D
I got the missus to take a photo and posted it in the gallery. I was shocked at how good it looked compared to my old Perthes scars. Don't spend much time looking at my own butt.
5 inches in the front of my leg, not at all raised but dented in instead.
4 inches, from Dr. Gross. Lyn
4 inches and 5 inches ? McMinn obviousely isn't into small incisions. Neither is Treacey looking at the gallery pics

I'm happy to have a longer scar and a solid reliable new joint that will last for as long as I do! I've seen too many surgeons fiddle around through a hole the size of a postage stamp and make a complete horlicks of the surgery rather than making a proper incision an doing the job properly.
Small scars are for whimps. I wear my Scar with pride.
Right side about 8 inches - can be hard to see after almost 2 years
Left side longer about 10 inches - seems slower to "disappear"
Both are hidden by my shorts - but a speedo :-\

For some reason I just re-read this thread. Not sure about the pools where YOU live, but here we have to keep our swimming trunks
ON. ;D
LOL good point.

;D Hehe... Now that you mention it, that does sounds pretty dodgy!! FYI & to put comment in some sort of context (not wanting to dig a bigger hole)... I meant the changing rooms at the swimming pool ...(not sure that's reads any better)... I'll put that shovel away - before I get too deep.
