Title: Long jump?
Post by: Arrojo on December 03, 2012, 10:41:45 AM
In the past, I loved to do the long jump at Masters Track Meets.  It wasn't my best event (100 meter dash is), but it was fun and I did win a few medals.  I'd love to do it again, but not in 2013.  The issue isn't with the jump (I jump off my non BHR leg) but the landing.  I know it shouldnt make me nervous but it does.  I'm thinking 2 years out before I should try long jumping again.

I know that I have a "full release" - go try anything.  Long Jump - mmmmm the stretching and impact would be interesting - good luck keep us posted - thanks

So, I won the long jump at the Massachusetts Sr. Games this morning.  It was my first time jumping since surgery.  (Sorry, I do not have a picture, that would be a good one, though).  I also finished 4th in both the 50 and 100m.  I tweaked my quad so I pulled out of the 200.  (The hip is fine, it's the rest of my body I am worried about).  And I qualified for Nationals in all three events.

So, now we know that Hip Resurfacing patients can successfully return to long jumping :)
