Title: Uncemented Hip Resurfacing and Update video w/ Dr. Gross 2012
Post by: Pat Walter on December 05, 2012, 10:39:53 PM
I visited Dr. Gross and Lee Webb this Monday and we did several videos. The third video is Uncemented Hip Resurfacing and Update of 2000 uncemented cases. Dr. Gross discusses uncemented hip resurfacing.  Why he feels it is an excellent option.  He reviews his first 2000 uncemented cases and current retention rate for those patients.

The video can be viewed here on his interview page:

or on the Doctor Interview page:

This video is important for perspective patients to learn about their options of cemented or uncemented hip resurfacing.  The best information is available from experienced hip resurfacing surgeons rather than just the media or internet.

I am certain that Dr. Gross's hunch about going cementless years ago is going to continue to prove out over time.  I have a fair bit of experience studying constitutive material models and using them to analyze failure in medical components and believe Dr. Gross is right when he says the cement is the weak link.  In a few more years he should have enough clinical data to prove it out.
