Yeah it's a blast. Luckily there's a few old slow over 50 guys to play with, the young guys would be flying over our heads haha, no thanks. There were 3 guys in the over 70 class  :o

Hey Bruce, Yessir, Saddleback, Escape Country, was a lot of places back then. This track is called Competitive Edge,  it's right where the 15 hits the 395. You might remember a small valley with trails going up and down both sides that everyone called the ribcage ? It's right there, left at the 1st signal on the 395

Bill - do you love racing or being over 50?  With my bike racing I am OK with being in a group of over 50's - it is the competition that I love.  Watch most of the video - looks like fun - Phill

Yes and I guess  ;D  Love racing, and theres not much I can do about being over 50 so I guess I love that too, hahaha. Racing guys that are all over 50 is a flat out blast. And we have just as much fun telling lies in the pits afterwards, maybe more hahaha. I don't think my fitness is there to do what you do, but that looks like a lot of fun too  8)

Bill, its great to see someone riding with the BHR.  I just turned 49 and had my right hip BHR on May 3rd, 2012.  I'm doing great, and am able to exercise, run a little, and lift some weights etc.  I'm still taking it "easy" being careful to watch how I recover.  I can't wait to get back on MX bike.  I rode it a couple of weeks prior to surgery because I knew that it may be a long time before I get the chance.  I used to race quite a bit, raced a season in 1999 and kept my 99 YZ 250 and would ride maybe once a year.  My hip started getting bad in about 2005/2006 and it got to where I couldnt get on the bike and crank it, so it was not so fun to ride after that.  It didnt bother me too much riding before surgery, I just couldnt use the leg in a corner becasue it was so inflexible, I knew if it caught the ground it would hurt like crazy.  So now in my basement I can swing my leg over the seat from either direction, can touch my chin to my knee and am itching to ride.  Like others, my fear is that I would dislocate in a fall.  Im not too concerned about the impact of jumps, since in normal circumstances your knees ankles and bike take most of that impact.  When I had my arthritic hip, jumps never bothered it.  I'm across the country from you in NC, but I have one year until the 50+ class so watch out.
Are you still riding the 250 2 stroke?

Yep, on an 05 YZ250. Riding doesn't bother it at all, crashing would obviously not be good but when is it ? I trail rode at 6 months and it was quite stiff and sore, starting riding more at a year and went back to tracks about a year and a half. And yes it's nice to be able to stick your leg out in a turn again ! Good luck and welcome back, you will get to be the youngest guy in the over 50 class lol
