Just got back yesterday from our 3,000+ mile trip out West. We went through WI, MN, SD, WY, MT and back again. I was a passenger on my husband's 2005 Harley Davidson bagger (very comfy). My hip did great except for the cold! Though I dressed up for the weather, whenever the temps. dropped below 60 degrees F., my whole thigh area would ache and it felt as if I was having muscle spasms (this only happened while riding on the bike). It was actually painful! But as soon as the temps. would rise, I was fine. I wonder what causes that? Has anyone else experienced that? I am almost at my 5 month anniversary of my surgery. I'm still not real graceful at getting on/off the bike, but I had no problems with that or walking around. I still have a minimal limp, but it's getting less noticeable all the time. In fact, I think I walked better in my motorcycle boots than I do my Reeboks!
Hi
Glad you enjoyed your trip. I think your hip is still healing and maybe the cold weather is bothering it more now than a year or two from now. My incision is still tender after I sit on something hard and it has been over 2 years.
Our bodies are tender and take time to heal.
I hope you enjoy many more bike trips and your hip continues to get better and better. I guess you will just have to ride where it is warm - sounds good to me!!!
Have fun.
