Went to Melbourne today. So relieved after seeing surgeon. The 1.5 hour drive was bliss .The return journey through peak hour traffic not so. Stephen McMahon answered all my questions and advised me of all the pros and cons between a THR and a BHR.It appears the THR has come a long way. All good to go and in 3 weeks I will be sporting a new BHR. Has been a funny week . I have ceased taking my painkillers and Panadol osteo and my hip has been fantastic this week.
Personally I think my exercise program and dietary program are finally coming to fruition.
Can't wait to join you folks on the post op side. Keep focused folks : those awaiting surgery and those recuperating from :)
That's great, Len - glad that you've got a good surgeon you're comfortable with.
The time will pass quickly. I used the time waiting to set up my apartment for recuperation.
Made sure the way was clear for my mobilizing with crutches, got a whole bunch of blurays to watch on the tube, precooked some meals and made sure all of my chargers (who knew there were that many?) were put on a safe, reachable area. In my case, it was on a roomy kitchen counter.
The second time, I even practiced my crutching techniques, since I had used one side so much, I wanted to feel comfortable with the other. Needless? definitely... made me feel better? indubitably.
Good luck, sounds like you're doing well on the run in.
