Title: Thanksgiving 5K
Post by: chuckm on November 28, 2013, 12:17:40 PM
I'm just shy of my one year anniversary for LBHR and ran the annual Turkey Trot 5K this morning. This is the only running race I have ever done in the past and I had to sit it out the last couple of years because of my bad hip. I feel great now and I placed in the top half of the pack of over 900 racers.
It took me 30 minutes to finish which is no where near what I could run it before but I'm sure I'll take a lot off that time next year.

Stories like this are "just what the Doctor ordered" (if I can use that expression) for those of us still in recovery mode. I have never, and probably never will, run a 5K, but if I can get back to my Sunday morning game I'll be ecstatic. There are times when you wonder if you'll ever return to pre-op and pre OA activity levels and it's great to hear of these successes.
My heart does go out to those reporting problems after a year or more, especially since it seems to be a small number of instances.
