Almost 6 weeks post op hip #2. Back to work this past week and did well. Lots of start up stiffness and a limp for the first 30 seconds of walking after sitting for any period of time. But all in all, it's good. This time around my incision site is more bothersome (sore). It's well healed, but it is more lateral than my other incision ( that one is about an inch more posterior). This one feels like it sits on the bone -- so it's just more tender. I still can't roll on the operated side comfortably.
Will see Dr. Gross this week for the 6 week follow up. Since I've been here before I made the decision to go to the gym today for a 20 minute recumbent bike ride and some light weights. It felt good. Never underestimate how good movement make you feel in mind, body and spirit.
I finally feel like I'm really in my way to having "normal hips" again :)
Hi Juno, Glad to hear you're continuing your progress on healing from #2. So of course I am same as you but tomorrow is 6 weeks on my first hip.
And I am also scheduled for 6 week follow up this week. I have an 8:20 apt this coming Thursday. Are you by any chance right about then? If so, it would be fun to say hi, since we never managed to back on December 12th...
I have that same stiffness after sitting, and in general it's just hard to get moving after sitting or lying down. also, like you, my 2 incisions are not symmetrical. My left is slightly more posterior, but with both done at same time, I have not been able to sleep on either side for 6 weeks, and am getting pretty tired of sleeping on my back every night. But it's all improving every day and I swam for the first time yesterday (since December 8th). That's a major uptick for me.
Hey Munch! My appt. is on Thursday as well, but I'm at 11:30. We will drive in from Atlanta that day so I took the late appt. --- will grab lunch and then drive home that afternoon. It's about 3 hours.
You sound like you're doing great! So happy you got a swim in. It's amazing how you almost feel "normal" doing stuff your were doing before surgery. I hear you on sleeping on your back. Luckily I can turn onto my right side and occasionally will sleep on my stomach (although that hurts my back). I was looking back on my notes and it was about 8-9 weeks when I finally could roll onto the operated side semi-comfortably.
Just think, summer time will be here soon and we will be
doing great!
Hey Juno, It's been awhile and I see you had your 2nd BHR 8 weeks ago. Glad to see all is going well for you. I am doing fine, no hip pain at all, and some knee pain that may be something else. Should be doing more exercising though, especially now that's it's winter here in northern ohio, and the worse one we have seen in awhile to.
Bob
Congrats Juno! good results, keep it up.
Hi Juno-
I am happy to hear you are doing well at six weeks and I hope your check-up went well today! Before you know it, Spring and then Summer... That is, if we ever get through this Artic Blast!!!
Boy, how time has flown. I will six months on the 20th!
Stay warm and keep feeling better and better.
Reno
Thanks all!
I am now 8 weeks postoperative and doing well. Attended a "gentle" yoga class on Tuesday and really felt great on Wednesday. Good to stretch. Walking without any issues and doing several miles a day. Still unable to sleep on my left side, but I'm definitely rolling over better in bed. Still have that startup stiffness after sitting for too long, but it passes quickly.
No complaints and so happy to be moving forward!!
