Has anyone here had HR done by Perry Greene MD within the last 12-18 months? He was highly recommended but has no references on this site.
Hi and welcome to the site! This is a good place to start or continue your research. I think there are several options for you in your area.
In the listing of doctors that Pat keeps, there is one in Michigan:
http://www.surfacehippy.info/listofdoctors.php#Michigan (http://www.surfacehippy.info/listofdoctors.php#Michigan)
But there are others in nearby states - Ohio with Dr. Brooks, Dr. Kusuma and others nearby. This is also the type of surgery that lends itself to traveling. So if you find a doctor farther away, it's doable, since once the surgery is done, having aftercare local to you is possible.
Good luck, I'm sure someone will follow up.
Hello!
Are you sure about that 3,000 figure? That sounds very high for a guy who is not a household name (at least in the household that is this site). Some very well know names have not hit 3,000. 3,000 is a lot of surgeries by a dedicated practice over a number of years (7, 8, 10).
Also I am not sure how much weight I would put in statistics from a group of 100 (as opposed to say 1,000). Also, statistics from 500 or 1,000 surgeries would be of more use as those hips would be far older on average than the smaller cohort.
I am sensitive to the argument as to availability of high volume surgeons, location, money, etc. But I do believe that the best scenario for this surgery is to have it done by regional, high volume centers that specialize in HR.
Mike
My apologies if i am mistaken about number of surgeries.
Mike
Tkdbob,
I think I found the link you are talking about. Updated early February 2014. I believe it is a list of doctors with over 1,000 surgeries, Dr. Schmitt is on there and it cites 1,500. An enormous amount. He is clearly a high volume surgeon.
