Title: Katie Ellis - 20 years with a Metal-on-Metal Hip Resurfacing
Post by: Pat Walter on May 29, 2014, 08:12:37 AM
Katie Ellis had one of Mr McMinn's first ever Metal-on-Metal (MoM) hip resurfacings in 1991. 21 years later, in 2012, she's living a happy and moderately-active family life with her husband and two sons, describing her hip resurfacing as a 'Godsend'.

Thanks for the link to the video Pat.

Hopefully all is well with Katie, and this year, 2014, would make it 23 years with her BHR.

Hi Luann

I am 8 1/2 years now.  No problems, no high metal ions.  Dr. Gross tested me a few years ago.  I am still a believer in hip resurfacing!

20+ years is a great story.

To be accurate, it's not actually a BHR is it? They came later.

I believe its a McMinn resurfacing device mate. And in Mr McMinns own words it was fairly crude.

That's great news, Pat. I am a big believer, too.
I have never been metal tested, though. Not something my Dr ever pushed the importance of. I'll ask at next checkup.
