Title: Tandem jumping
Post by: lgbran on June 18, 2014, 02:59:15 AM
Hi folks,
Not that I'm in any hurry to do it but has anyone out there jumped out of a plane with their BHR
Along with their instructor , parachute and reserve Shute? Would be one hell of an experience is everything went well. And if it didn't ..........

I skydived pre bhr and fully intend on doing more in the future. I'm pretty sure that my judo is harder on my hip than skydiving and it doesn't effect that!

I am a regular skydiver and I have done over 200 skydives since my BHR. Just had my 5 yr check up and all is fine. So I would say doing a tandem would be no problem.
Only down side for me at present is I maybe taking up to a year off jumping as I am due to have my left hip resurfaced. Have my appointment with surgeon in July in Birmingham :-)

Hi Danny, My surgeon was a mr Mitchell in Harrogate. They are not doing BHR anymore  here. Hence my referral to Birmingham. Am hoping for mr Mcinn or Mr treacy :-)

Ah cool. I know Mr McMinn is very hard to navigate tyo via the NHS. Mr Treacy seems to get through patients fast   :D I will be having Number 2 done by him at some point probably in the next 12-18 months.

Why are they backing off doing BHR? Is it because of the advances with a THR ?

Hi Igbran,

At my hospital no one knows....or they are not saying.
My guess is there may have been problems with one or of the BHR's, either metal in blood stream or something else.
But I am pleased that I am now being referred to the best hospital in the country  :)
