A returning customer to my hotel who has seen me go through the phases of deteriation and recovery. Stopped me yesterday and said watching the way I fly around the hotel run up and down the stairs, she wouldn't have believed I had had a HR unless she knew me. Apparently I don't even walk like someone who has had a new Hip. ???
Can anyone teach me the Walk. ;)
Fortunately not. However, my physical therapist spent quite a bit of time working on my
"interesting gait" after I had both my hips resurfaced.
I was out for a walk in the country the other day and saw an interesting gate it had 6 bars instead of the usual 5. ;D
Didn't John Cleese set the standard for the hotel owner's gait in Fawlty Towers?
I could try the Ministry of Silly walks approach.
I can't teach you the walk but I can tell you how to get it....get a job that requires huge amounts of driving, lots of sitting, very long hours, and don't keep up with the strengthening exercises. I am a hospice chaplain and thought I was doing really well until I was "corrected" by a confused little man in a wheelchair with no filters on his mouth. I was walking down the hallway in a care facility toward him when he said "what's wrong with your leg?" "Why do you ask?", I responded. "I used to breed race horses and if I had a horse that walked like that, I'd have to put it down." Straightened me up pretty fast. I became aware of the bad habits I had developed. This was about 7 months post op and at my one year follow up last month the doc immediately ordered me back to PT. I didn't learn anything I didn't already know and work daily on my buns of steel. ;)
