Title: Post Op 4 weeks Dr. Su HSS NYC...
Post by: saxmanpete on September 05, 2014, 04:14:00 PM
I had my Resurfacing of my right hip done on July 31st…at HSS in NYC…1st day was pretty sore and walked 3 steps with walker..2nd day walked around the halls and up and down steps with crutches but putting full weight on it…I took no meds other than Tylenol after the 2nd nite and was off Tylenol after 2 weeks…3rd day I went home at noon…I was driving in 2 weeks and walking up to a mile using the crutches just in case I stumbled but never did…Went back for checkup at 3 1/2 weeks and the PA had me starting more aggresive stretches on the Flexors…I was a little afraid to overdo it before then…I had no limp at all at 3 1/2 weeks…I am 69 years old but very active in Bikram Yoga…I plan to get back in the Hot Room in 2 weeks…I am also going to a PT that is stretching me out…The hardest exercise is putting the operated leg(ankle) up on the opposite knee while sitting and pushing it out…I do that lying down and it is slowly working out…I am cutting the grass with a push power mower and realize I am a bit out of shape but i am so pleased with the whole procedure…If you are in the NE go to Dr. Su…I live 3 hours from there and it was well worth it…I am also a semi full R&R sax player and back to playing gigs…This website is fantastic and I found it before getting this done and Pat was very helpful…saxmanpete PS…I do suggest you take the stool softeners in the hospital and when you get home!!!
Everyone at HSS loved the Hospital logo I had painted on my toe…and it is still there!!!

It amazes me that you can do that so soon, it took me months to get there! Congratulations on what sounds like an almost too good to be true recovery.
