Tomorrow will be my one year anniversary of my left BHR done by Dr. Brooks at the Cleveland Clinic.
I went up to Cleveland 4 days ago for my one year check up with Phil, Dr. Brooks' assistant. X rays showed the device has not moved and is positioned perfectly. Phil checked my range of motion and, while good, felt I could get some more range by doing some more aggressive stretching. He released me from all restrictions (running, jumping and lifting more than 50 lbs)and told me I could do anything I want. Besides those few restrictions I have pretty much been doing what I want for some time. Bicycling, golf, hunting, yard work....no problem.
I have had zero pain in the hip itself and only minor muscle soreness after exercise. I can't believe it has been a year already. The only time I even think of my hip is when I am aware I am doing things with zero pain! And try as I might, I can't keep that big smile from coming across my face! ;D
I am so thankful for this website, for Dr. Brooks, and for the ones that offered their support leading up to my surgery.
To date, it's been a terrific journey for me!
Nathan
Congratulations. Thanks for giving us an update. Hope to hear about your anniversaries for many years to come!
Good Luck.

Happy first birthday! On the rom front, I noticed a big inprovement between 12-18 months. That may well have been because my activity level increased a lot though :)
Thanks for letting us know! Hope you enjoy many more active, pain free years!!
Hey yinz all,
Glad to hear the great report Staggerwing! I'll be post op 4 months in a few days and back to work ::). I am ready, but really got to liking being off work and doing stuff around the home even with the restrictions Dr. Brooks and the gang gave me. I am having those 'moments' too when you go..."hmmmm, couldn't do that without pain" for a long time.
I have to say that Dr. Brooks and his team were wonderful throughout my surgery & care. I'm so glad I found him and don't hesitate to pass on good reviews when I can.
So I'm hoping for continued improvement which will certainly happen.
All the best to you 'hipsters' out there.
