I know everyone's recovery pace is different, but I thought I'd ask for some advice anyway.
So the PAC-12 championship game (GO DUCKS!) is 10 days after my surgery (12/5). Based on past experience here with post-op, would I be mobile enough to attend the game after 10 days of recovery?
I would love to get tickets for my dad for his birthday. We would be driving down from Portland to San Jose and staying over a couple nights. I think I can also get seats in the handicap section for the game since I'll be on crutches.
Personally for me that would be a no go. Others I'm sure will say they could have done that 10 days post op though. Hope you can do it for your dads birthday! :)
That might be too much sitting for 10 days out. I doubt the seating is armchair-like with the ability to elevate your leg, even in the disabled section.
I would not do it. give your Dad back a healthy son! that is a better gift
Just my opinion but I wouldn't attempt it. My hip was pretty sore for the first couple weeks. I got out and walked every day but after a few hours I was glad to get home. I took a lot of naps and iced my hip frequently. I also had to do physical therapy 3 times a day. It was good to have the comforts of home with my food, couch and lazy boy.
Sounds like the recovery period is pretty brutal. Not looking forward to those first couple of weeks.
Just remember rest lots, good food, Ice and take any pain killers that you need to take and you'll be fine ;)
The recovery is not necessarily "brutal", as you put it. Mine a year ago was pretty easy - no pain, no swelling but I did take it very easy. I would not risk taking on what you are considering. It sounds fun, but it will probably hurt and given that at that stage there will be virtually no bone ingrowth, you could mess up the surgeons work.
Worth the risk?
