Title: Eleven Years Later
Post by: GoldenRun on May 24, 2015, 12:30:24 PM
Hello, I used to post here quite a bit when I had my left hip resurfaced back in 2004. I've since had my right hip resurfaced - 2010. I've had no problems at all until just lately. I have groin pain on my left side. Just a twinge at first, now it's really hurting. I'm turning 67 this summer!  I wonder if any other's who've had resurfaced hips for 10 years or longer have any insight.  Thanks.

Hi GoldenRun,

My first is now well over 15 years old and feels "as new" at the moment. When the other was done eighteen months ago, they said that the original looked as it did when implanted.

Obviously, the only way you will get a real answer is to get a doctor to look at the X-Rays. Does it feel as if it may have loosened?

The pain may be unconnected to the implant, of course.

I do hope it is something minor.

I echo Granton's note hoping it is something minor.

If it is pain in groin, what led up to it? A fall? A particularly strenuous football match? Or nothing much? Have you been ill recently?

All questions a pro will ask I think, in conjunction with X-rays. I'd get in touch with the surgeon I think. Hope it is just a groin strain or something benign.

Good luck.
