Hi bikers, today we had a hippy ride-out that comprised me (29 weeks BHR), Roger (1997 BHR by Treacy), Paul (second THR done 18 months ago, to replace the original smashed in a cycling accident) and Roger's wife Jane, who still has all natural hips.
Despite GPS route plotting errors and a road closure that involved retracing our route for a few miles we eventually got home with 71 miles recorded at just over 14mph, which would not trouble Bradley Wiggins but we are nearly all over 60, Roger is 70.
Not a bad day out, despite a constant unhelpful gusty wind, and the halfway cafe was excellent!
Great to hear. Keep it up. Greetings from a fellow cyclist 1.5 years post surgery. It's just gets better and better!
Great! .....and I had a smile in my face. Nowadays we tell which hip we have and not which bike we ride :)
Repeated this ride on July 1st, the hottest July day in the UK since records began, with the route sorted out properly and only 62 miles this time.
The Garmin logged an average of 88 degrees Fahrenheit and we managed just under 15 mph.
After the café stop at 40 miles I started to have trouble with incipient cramp in both thighs but managed to ride through it although I was still slightly the weakest link.
No trouble at all from the BHR, which is now 32 weeks old.
Hi petemeads,
Nice work there on the ride. Is great that you are progressing well.
Sure could do with some of that sunshine "down under" here.
Will post my progress next wek , as am the big 1 Anniversary. :) ;) :D ;D :P .
Cheers,
Kiwi Boyo.
